thx for all the input here fellas
BOZODOS what did it set u back ? notice any noise/exhaust note difference apart from fixing the raspiness ?? any power gain or loss ??
WONKY so you suggest go a H pipe (cheap fix to start im guessing ? worthwhile doing the mufflers too ? failing that new cat back ? can you suggest a cat back for my ute vyss03 ?dont know prices at all do ya -roughly ?)
the cat back exhaust is coated black and has some shitty chrome dipped ends which look like an add on .... what could i expect to sell my catback for ?? and what would it cost for a new cat back system ??
the way mines set up is : tri ys either side of engine that come down from 2 pipeseach side into 1 via a y piece on there each respective side, then each side joins the start of the cat pipe then the cats then more cat pipe, here the cat back starts with a bit of pipe that then kisses/mergres (im guessing this is the x or H pipe ?) then more pipe that goes into 2 seperate mufflers (rectangular and rounded in shape and relatively flat ) then the rest of the twin exhaust out left hand side with some shitty chrome tips
read this on the jegs website (have no idea who jegs are if there shit or otherwise -thought id throw this up )
X-pipe and H-pipes synchronize the balance of the exhaust pulses from each bank of cylinders based on firing order which increases velocity and scavenging from each cylinder. Most people agree that X-pipes are better at improving performance than H-pipes, especially at the top end. However, H-pipes tend to have a deeper sound than x-pipe equipped vehicles and generally build power down low. These are general claims and your engine and exhaust combination could have different results.
so whats the general consensus fellas ?? change to a H pipe and change mufflers hoping this cheaper fix does the job failing this get a new cat back system ??
appreciate all the help![]()
