I wish it was more than 325KW, I'll be grabbing one of the first VF tourers as soon as they are out, would love more than 325KW though im going in with the info it will be the 325KW LS3 to avoid being disappointed.

Looking at the US versions of the LS3, with the bi-modal exhaust it makes 325kw and 580nm, maybe the power will stay. They should now also remove the 350nm torque restriction on the driveline to enable the full torque available.

the current gearbox is rated to 550nm of torque. that's why the LS3 in the HSV is rated at 550NM. they will have to update the gearbox for the LT1 as it has 600nm in standard guise

The VE has been torque restricted from factory to 550Nm to protect the 6-speed auto and maybe other things, however i believe they are meant to be improving the driveline to allow for more torque.

That is why the W427 was only available in the manual version.

I did a typo in the first one sorry meant to be 550Nm not 350Nm.

    Cheers, thanks for that.

I assume when people get their cars modded for more power they remove this restriction?

I would say it would be tune based and a removable feature.

I keep on hearing the direct injection is actually a step back in terms of reliability. I've heard of all the Audi/VW people with Direct Injection have issues the heads needing a clean up every 10,000kms or something ridiculous to stay fresh, and apparently other manufacturers have that issue too.
Can anyone shine any light on that?

Also, the T56 was only rated for 550Nm. It could have been raised when they went to the T6060 partway through the E1 release

wouldnt be the first time HSV have done it. 325 is the limit on LS3.
The new motor in 2014 will give them a 10kw jump to "match" (lol) FPV.

A thought. HSV have traditionally fitted their engines with extractors, the LT1 makes 335kw with standard headers, a set of extractors might release a few more.

But yes LS3 until sometime in 2014 then LT1.

    Cheers, Matthew

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...

I think we will see the GTS for a while yet...HSV may slim down their range a little, not sure on what their sales numbers are like and what sells well for them. For example never see any new Senators or Granges driving around....

However, alot of the variance between HSV models is minimal, so I expect little to no change....

Does anyone here have actual HSV sales figures for 2012???
