New cars owners,
Does it 'piss you off' disapppont you when you buy a new car in the HSV range and 6months or 12months later HSV increases the Kw to match?
eg.
you buy a 25 Year Anniversary GTS with 225kw (the highest Kw in the HSV range in that current model)
and 6-12 months later they bring out clubsports, grange, hsv utes, with the same power out put.
Yes and No?......
The big one was when the VT series II was released, with a base model Executive V8 having a similar power output to a superceded VT GTS, albeit with an inferior torque curve.
If we look at what the Germans are doing (AMG etc) then it could be argued that HSV is well behind in the kW war and should be making every effort to remain competitive in the performance car market.
this is where simple aftermarket mods on your less kw original car will make it shit all over the new model!!!!
In recent times since VE was 307 Kw, the current cars are 325 that's only about a 6% increase, and I don't think the torque figure has changed at all in that time, despite going to 6.2 litres. If I'd spent big bucks on a 300kw Callaway engined car back in the VX VY days I probably would have been p!ssed when the Z came out in '04.
HSV don't make money when you keep your old HSV .
They want to tempt you to trade it in on the new model to get that extra 10 kw ..
That's what keeps their books ticking over ...
At our Club Meetings you can watch The Salesman spending way more time talking to those they think change cars often and don't bother too much with those who ' hold ' thier cars for a while !!!

i own a VZ with ls2... no im very happy lol
It happens with fords too. All those people who paid $75k for those tickford series cars 220-250kw in the au shape. The next year the BA xr8 and xr6t comes out 240-260kw which destroyed those cars, at $30-40k less
What gets me is during the same time yu could buy a vt2-vx executive ls1 which destroyed all those tickford cars for less than half their price! Did those buyers have their heads in the sand?

mmm...
got me thinking....
i know they maynot make as many cars on this...but HSV could sell an upgrade package to you current car to be 'above' the upgrade 6-12 months later......
i think would keep thier customer base, keep the $ ticking over
once a new model comes out then market for owners to step into new cars...
It's called progress. To deny it is like trying to hold back the ocean...........
