Re: VF Commodore revealed next week.

Looks like someone at Holden is a fan of recent Jag designs. Side vents and wheels especially.

I really like the rear. The front looks a bit busy; lots of lines on the bonnet, grille and headlights seem too tall for the body sides. It has lost the strong look of the VE for something a bit softer, in line with current styling trends. There's a lot of Opel Insignia there. Looking at that pic posted earlier of the VF and VE though, I prefer the VE front end.

    Interior looks really good.

I'd be happy to put one in my driveway in a few years unless I need something with more seats. Most probably as a wagon.

I'm so glad I have a VE series 1. And now I'm convinced it will probably be the newest commodore I will ever own as the I do not like the new one. Now I can confortably spend more money on mine . lol

Another thumbs up here. Nice work Holden. Brought the humble Commodore into this century.

Bearing in mind financial constraints, fewer sales, ltd life etc etc, I reckon Holden have done a great job.
I hope it sells well here, and also makes its target sales in the U.S.
    Go Holden. Pickles.

    I absolutely love it!

The more I look at the Calais v the more I find things things I love.

In my opinion, Holden have redefined the local large car. It is jammed full of tech, the styling is world class and it is the most comprehensive update we have ever seen.

They have left nothing on the table and if this car fails it is because we, as enthusiasts and consumers, have failed to put our money where our mouths are.

It certainly won't be because they went half cocked on the VF.

I am genuinely excited and if the quality is anywhere near what they are claiming, they have truly produced a world class car.

HSV, please don't stuff it up! ( they have reassured me on dozens of occassions that I will be back in a HSV, and I have little doubt).

Radio reception in the FG is VERY poor.

I'd buy a VF (SSV) based on what I've seen so far. Very nice.

Bouka you seem to be the man in the know. Any major mechanical revisions expected throughout the line up? Do you know how much weight they are expected to loose?

I also have a series 1 SSV and I think they will go down as a classic. The series two looks to soft and has all that god aweful chrome. The VF looks like a mix between a Cruze, VE and Falcon to me. I am sure it will grow on me though and the SS and HSV versions will hopefully look better......

Hooray for the steering wheel! Cruise control controls and HUD like in the Camaro
How long does HSV usually take to release their versions?

Aside from the back (which looks bland) the rest of the package looks very impressive.

I hope HSV go for an equally classy look because their recent efforts have been very "Fast n Furious" (as Seedy has alluded to)

I have been hinting at things for well over 6 months.

It is hard to say stuff and not get in to trouble, but of what I "think" is on the HSV side of things.

Weight loss not massive and engines stay same for Holden.

If you think the new Holden is good, wait for the HSV!

    I am.

    Again, brilliant effort Holden.

Certainly does. I was going to say that earlier, dont mean to upset the VE owners, but the VF has made the VE look bland, and behind the times in regard to tech. Holden are going to be flat out selling any VE models now.

But Im another one that recons the power window controls should have stayed in the centre console. More protected from weather / water there. and front seat passenger had control of rear windows.

Have noticed on facebook that some people are critisizing it for losing its Australian heritage, looking too global, and too much like the imports. Well, all I have to say to them is if you wanted Commodore to stay uniquely Australian and "just for us". They should have bought up and supported the VE alot better over the last few years instead of buying imports. Holden may not have had to go to these measures in order to survive. They have had to bring the Commodore up to this level of style and tech to compete with the imports. Which isnt really a bad thing
