Holden interior design manager John Field :
"Addressing one of the biggest criticisms of the VE, the A-pillars gain different trim and linings that are about 4mm slimmer, to increase the field of vision, albeit only slightly."
4mm might work ! .... keeps the same proven strength and safety.

Some do, but some pearls are just awesome. They give the car depth rather than just being washed out

They were sold to the middle east as Chevs, so 'technically' legit too

Back on topic, the more I look at the Calais V pics, the more I'm liking it. It's my pick so far, with dark interior. Waiting to see the SS, will check out the HSV's but none will be in my price range I'm thinking. I'll find out when the $$$$ numbers are released.
I saw a Captiva with a Chev badge just the other day....I had to laugh

I've read they removed 70kg of weight, but the new gadgets added 30kg, so the nett result is a reduction of 40kg overall.

So if you upgrade from VE to VF, you can stop jogging and eat lots of pizzas.

In many parts of the world the Captiva, Cruze, Barina, Spark, Commodore, Caprice and Volt are sold as Chevs. Carpice is also sold as a Buick Park Avenue in China (and IIRC a Daewoo in ROK). Monaro was sold as Chev Lumina Coupe in M/E as well as Pontiac GTO and Vauxhall Monaro.

    Cheers, Matthew

The pricing will have to be spot on to get lots of private buyers back. The AUD has suddenly not got more favourable to Aus manufacturers with this launch. Great car no doubt but pricing will be key to its success.

exactly after years of being able to get an SS for early 40K drive away no private buyer is going to want to pay $50K + only for them to drop the prices in 6-12 months time.

i think it is a great step forward for Holden but have you just stated the pricing will dictate weather it sells or not.

I'm no car engineer, but I think they could ahve got more out of the trims than 4mm. 4-5mm gained just by angling the VE door/window jamb trim up and out a bit alone I reckon.

I always thought there was easy improvements that could have been made with Series 2 on the pillar.
They sure knew it was needing attention as the interior design manager said ..."Addressing one of the biggest criticisms of the VE, the A-pillars "
First test-drives by the motoring journos will no doubt let everyone know if it is improved.

Willing to be proven wrong but I dont think that is going to happen, the numbers are hitting volumes close to when Mitsubishi shut down the Magna, beats me why the money doesnt go towards a small mid sized rear drive Torana rather than continue to pump money into a declining large car market, Holden has sadly lost its way and the public is voting with their wallets.

If Holden want my support, they should build a car I want to buy, considering majority here subsidise GMH through their taxes, a tax incentive to buy a Holden car say 20% for citizens or perm residents, otherwise I buy another brand
GMH - doling out on billions at the expense of ALL Australians

    Who'd buy it?
The small fraction of people who'd like a RWD sedan, don't want a large one, and can't afford a 3 series?
Joe and Joanne Average would look at the cramped interior packaging of a mid-sized RWD sedan and then go off and buy a Camry instead.
    2007 VE SS M6 - Ignition
    2013 JH Cruze SRi M6 - Redhot
1971 VW Super Beetle - Moss Green

    Unfortunately, I agree with you.
