just wondering why tapatalk has been restricted to only validated members? is there a reason for this?

I'll take a guess. It is a perk for the validated members. Best I can come up with at short notice.

Possibly to cut down forum traffic? Most forum activity is probably via mobile devices and tapatalk now days.

No different from the old days. There were certain perks for members that were Validated. Unfortunately apart from tapatalk there is no perks for the people that took the effort to get to know people.

Its not exactly hard to get validated either. Go out and meet two other members that will vouch for you and your done.

I think getting to have an avatar is a big enough perk

Sorry mate I can't agree. It's actually quite difficult depending on time available, number of members in your area, work hours etc. It would be really great if there were other ways to be validated such as helpful posts over a period of time (as one simple suggestion) etc.

    Re: tapatalk and validation

The Tapatalk feature makes using the forum on a mobile device easier, so it was added as an additional privilege/reward to Validated Users for the effort they went to in becoming Validated. The rule stating it was only for Validated Users has been in the FAQ since the feature was first added, but one of the forum updates shortly after turned off the restriction and it went unnoticed as Sidey was working on fixing other issues and updating the forum software. After fixing the Forum Garage feature Sidey went through the other addons and discovered this oversight and turned it back on.

Well would you kindly mind going back into the addons and turn it back on . I only have my mobile for access andiit's so much easier to use all forums with Tapatalk .
I really can't see the point in restricting people from being able to use the forum . Getting a registered email so I could access the forum to begin with was hard enough itself .

Sidey owns the forum, so if he wants it restricted as a bonus to Validated Users only, then that's the way it is. The Mods can't just change something because we feel like it. Sidey makes the rules, we just keep the forum on track with those rules.
Noone is being restricted from using the forum, as all users can still access it using a browser interface on their phones, it's just easier which is why that was given as a reward to Validated Users.

This forum has been live since 2001/2002. Tapatalk has only been available for what the last 2 years? and I can tell you that there was alot more forum traffic before tapatalk then there is now.

Mate I can understand where you are coming from but that is a cop out. I know of one validate member that live on a island with only a hand full of people and I would be confident to say that the other people on the island werent validated LS1 members
