Ill just wait till Holden / HSV officially release specs before getting too exited...
We will wait and see however word is the HSV will be supercharged. One thing I think is that even if its not in initially I think it will be a model year update at one stage during its life. Already the 6.00ltr has been around at least 7 years. I cannot recall the 5.7 lasting this long as it came in and ended in the 3rd generation Commodore VT11 till VZ which was about 5 or 6 years at most.
Best to think of the generations. 5.7L LS1/LS6 were the Gen III, the 6.0L L76, L77, L98, LS2, 6.2L LS3 and 7.0L LS7 are Gen IV and so far we know about the 6.2L LT1 Gen V coming to HSV next year. I wonder what Holden will get. As we saw with the introduction of the Gen IV, HSV got the Gen IV in late 2004, Holden got it start of 2006. Given the lifespan of the VF, maybe there won't be a Gen V Holden, if HSV gets the Gen V next year, there is only roughly 2 years to go from there.
Cheers, Matthew
I spent most of my money on unreliable cars and less reliable women, the rest I wasted.

I know everybody is saying it will not happen but if the VF SS is released with the LS3 I still think that HSV will have the LT1 at release of the "F Series"
The HSV will go on sale at about the same time as the Corvette with the LT1 so HSV should be able to have the LT1 when the F series goes on sale.
Just my thoughts even though it maybe wishful thinking.

Yes but most are also suggesting NO power increases! That's pretty disappointing really.
The ideal upgrade would have been the L99 it is a lower output LS3; 298kw @ 5900rpm, 555Nm @ 4300rpm.
Would increase performance substantially whilst still allowing for the higher spec LS3 HSV range to retain it's performance edge, especially as the restricted torque is increased.
My vote goes to the L99 for the Holden's or even just the 'SS' and LS3 for the HSV until the LT1 arrives.
Whilst I'd love to see the LS3 in the SS I don't think it will happen, if history has taught us anything its that the American models get better engines than we do, its a shame when its our car but there you go.
I share your wish for at least a power increase of this type I don't think it will happen either, whilst I will cross my fingers I won't be holding my breath.

Holden has a history of releasing new models with old drivetrains. I would expect the 6.2L to follow in 12 months.
I am not too concerned about resale of my VE. Age and kms have a way bigger impact than new model releases.
And we all know a lightly 'de-restricted' unit out performs a new stock unit. It is unlikely my smile will be wiped off my face when I press the loud pedal any time soon.

Local ss gets same engine as current car.
Hsv gets supercharged motor but only one model.
Lots of poorly written and researched articles.
It's amazing what passes for journalism these days.
From what I've heard the VF gets same engines as the VE and bugger all power increases if any.
