same as it is now, exhaust/OTR/tune and you are keeping HSV's at bay. If they get an LSA you are in shit though

You do have a choice. You want the good engine. You buy the good car. Clubby isn't much more than an SSV redline

Yep, I still kick myself for not buying a Maloo GXP now instead of the SSV ute.

@ the end of the day it depends what you want outta your vehicle sure the LS3 is great in stock form but not that much better than a 6L!
Can easily get the 6L going as hard without too much coin being thrown @ them!!

Apart from the money involved why? The Maloo GXP has much more than the SSV! LS3, brakes, gauges etc..

You keep telling yourself that mate.. In stock form there is a noticeable difference in the ones I've sampled. You'll never get an honest 300rwkw out of a bolt on L98. Yet you can get there with an LS3.

Maybe so though you will go close, depends on how many you wanna sample!

And what if you throw the same amount of coin at a Maloo or Clubsport?

Nothing personal & not disputing the LS3 is a far superior engine! Heck the stock torque figures speak for themselves!!!
I don't need to justify the expense that's all!

Re: VF SS and SSV to have 6.2ltr

I don't quite understand why the LS3 is too expensive for Australia but not for the US given they are all being imported from the US to Australia, put in the car here and the US is getting the whole car shipped back over to the US and sold cheaper than here anyway. It simply doesn't make sense. More likely it all comes down to the fact that Australian's are simply used to being gouged for cars so why would Holden throw away that extra margin now.

Re: VF SS and SSV to have 6.2ltr

I think I'll be buying a VF of some description this year and while it's a bit disappointing, I'm also kind of happy that they will have carry over engines as they have great aftermarket development already. It would be annoying to me to have a nice brand new toy and no cams to choose from etc. OTRs may be a problem in the early days as they were for the VE. A 6.2 in the SS would have been stunning but it obviously doesn't fit to have that in the Holdens when HSV are using the LS3 for another 12 months. A little worried that the ECU will be different, does anyone know if this is the case - I might be jumping the gun here but will we be able to get the VF tuned straight away?

Late 2014 Early 2015 SS to get detuned LS3 (L99) and HSV to get LT1 motors
    Your source is mostly right.

100k will be for GTS. Will be worth every cent too. As quick as rspec gt in straight line rumour has it.

The rest of the range should be priced similar to current.

Caradvice just said Holden gave in and admitted we will be getting carry over engines across the board as it says the SS will also get the carry over 6.0L, 6.2L L99 for export only.
Seems to put the L99 in our cars would push the price up too much.
One gets the feeling that we are getting shafted just so that they can export more cars at cheaper price.
Unfortunately this also happens in the parts business, eg Yella Terra Roller rockers are cheaper in the states than we pay whole sale here.
Holden boss said that this is a "no excuses" car.
It did not take long for the excuses to start such as:

Why does the USA get the LS3
Why does the USA pay $10k less for a superior car.
Why does a 2013 no excuses car basically have the same engine as a 2006 model.
