Aside from those that own them, nobody gives them a second thought.

King in their own mind perhaps.....

No mention of GTs and or equalizing measures that you talk about. The fact is dollar for dollar...KW for KW..their turbo spanks our ls1 and that's a fact.
And if tuners are defaulting to a certain engine for their top power needs....explain how that doesn't equate to some level of street king.
LOL, i disrespect the ability of the Fords? I am actually a big fan of the Fords drive-train both in the 6 and particularly the blown 5.0l (hint: i own a GS ute!) but as a "whole package" they trail the Holden, i'm sorry if you can't face that fact but it is true!

Unopened and stock a VZ is the better handler even though it scrubs the shit outta it's outside fronts when it leans in hard, for damping and bump/rebound the BA is probably the car to own and even though the interior is more updated on the BA over the VZ the fit and finish quality of the VZ was miles ahead.

As for straight line grunt, well the Turbo is a cracker and once money is spent an LS1 would only dream of keeping up, saying that the reliability of the tuned LS is far greater than the XR!

Oh and if they had the "street king" cred you talk of then they wouldn't be struggling to stay in the top 20 in sales month by month.

you don't have to prove anything to me......once again you have waffled on about drivelines and handling in cars not even mentioned in this thread...except by you. You speak mostly the truth but its not the OPs question answered when you suggest that the LS1 holdens handles better and when you spend an extra ten grand on the holden, theyll even perform the same. Ha please if you try to stay on topic for half a line you may not sound so tragically biased to holden products.
Oh yeah and lets bring sales into it shall we...real smart....that always proves which one is faster....(smacks forehead)

I've owned both and personally nothing beats the sound and the instant torque of the v8.
The turbo is quick and fun, but no matter how fast it is, deep down you know it's a 6.
After a long day at work you walk to your car and start it up and it just sounds like your normal falcon. The v8 you never get sick of.
These days with all the hoon laws and cops getting tough, is it really that important to have all that power? It just makes you break the law more often.
A v8 you can enjoy at any speed from the moment you start it.
To answer the question though, a ba unopened will be quicker. I remember doing 12.8@112 before needing valve springs.

Huh? Do you read before you type?

I said the once the XR was tuned, modded etc the LS1 wouldn't have a chance of keeping up.

And the sales thing was to do with the "Street King" label you gave them, nothing to do with the performance of said car!

Correct me if I'm wrong is the topic not about an LS1 and BA? Also correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt the VZ have an LS1.

the op said BOTH can be modded...just remain unopened.
And if you want to talk about sales then maybe your reffering to chart or sales king..not street king...where modding is KEY.
And I was commenting you bringing up handling as if it had anything to do with the power cars make when modded and tuned unopened...that's what I ment.

Oh and I wholeheartedly agree with GTS 365....living with a v8 sound track is what its all about anyway..for me at least

Re: Xr6t BA vs ls1.... Both unopened

Dipped my toe in this thread every now and then and it just occurred to me that you could bolt a turbo to an ls1 and it is still unopened as I see it. Then it would depend on how much power the LS1 fuel system can support?

Yeah nice theory and technically correct.. But let us know how that goes when competing in a Bolt On category

this thread is like a tennis match !\

I guess you could substitute the BA engine for a BF or FG , unopened they handle 20+ psi

Then again , we have LS3....

    And LS7, LS9 etc etc.

I guess the real answer is, how fast can you afford to go?
