well the W427 is a normally aspirated 7.0, relatively bespoke engine. the new HSV is still a taxi engine with a huffer bolted on. I think the W427 will still be a little more special!!
some extremely negative comments in the adelaide now article...

read the comments...
^ Just clinked on that "classic Holden Commodore ads" link and wow that music is catchy in the 1981 ad.
I read about 4 or 5 of the "comments".....then just didn't wanna waste my time any more reading that "dribble"....same people probably drive a 1990 Excel, ride a bike, or whatever. They're also the same people who go on about "speed speed speed". HSV ain't gonna be worried abount wankers like them, that's for sure.
IMHO, this car is long overdue...HSV should've had it on the road long ago.
Cheers, Pickles.
This car will be worth every cent...... but you kinda wonder if the people that are looking at this car as something to keep for a while & are performance driven will be kinda wanting to stetch another 20 grand or so & get a low K'd 2nd hand AMG C63 ..... I know i'll be tossing up between the two..... & if i can stretch it...i'll be going for the Latter...... just because i know i've been burnt by every HSV i've ever Bought... Kinda leaves a sour taste in your mouth when your splashed out big dollars on a car only to have it start rattling after 10 thou K. Fingers Crossed though that this new GTS leaves us gobsmacked & that they dont makes the model obselete after 12 months by doing an 'update'.
I have several mortgages to help pay off so Im not at the age where I can access my super but for you guys who are semi or on full retirement, it would be a good buy, plane trip to LA, buy the car and do a road trip from west coast to east coast, sell the car on the other side, get most of your money back and return home or you could buy a house over there to store it in, which many have done, you have a place to stay when you visit, no more hotels and rental cars

Regardless of whether you agree with them or not, Joe Public’s perceptions and buying decisions play a big part in the survival of all products.
Popularism when grabbed by the media and governments has been the downfall of many a good idea and the reverse, the promotion of rules and regulations infringing on the freedoms of the many to deal with the faults of the lowest common denominator and turning the country into a nanny state.
The answer is to get out to the dealers and buy these cars to keep them alive.
