September's still a wee way away. Plus, a CLA would be for Mrs Bouka, no?

That actually made me laugh out loud (that's lol for the gen y lot).

At the risk of sounding idealistic (God forbid), I have always been a passionate supporter of the local stuff.

As the hair color is suggesting these days, we grow older (I am not old!) and we sometimes get seduced by the European offerings.

I really believe that the lot of larakins out at Clayton have done enough to stop the flirtation with the foreigners.

Time will tell. From what we know so far, this thing sounds bloody awesome.

Oh, and the mrs is still annoyed that I got rid of the senator.

I don't understand why they need 6 gears with big power and with 2 of them being not quite 1 to 1 , go back to 4

I was referring more for the cost for the manufacturer, warranting something over and above it's designed working load as such is never going to happen.

Power doesn't matter as much as the shape of the torque curve, the more ratios you have the closer and tighter you can keep the engine revs near the torque peak which is great for acceleration. Plus extra ratios allow for fuel economy overdrives, 5th for around town and 6th on the highway. The 6th gear in the T56 (0.50:1) is what gets LS1s doing sub 9L/100kms on the highway at a steady 100kph, with the standard 3.45 diff the engine is turning over at around 1400rpm.

Me, I'd love it if they fitted the ZF 8 speed auto (Bouka, do you know if this is coming the the Falcon GT?) or the GM equivalent, which I think is in the pipeline for big torque engines. GM already have an 8 speed auto for the HFV6 in the Cadillac ATS and new CTS.

    Cheers, Matthew

I only see the value in that with high revving 4' and 6's so you do stay in the torque curve.
If you've ever been driven in europe in a manual , it's how they drive their little buzz boxes .

    not against an overdrive .
8 gears behind a V6 , yes, behind a V8, I don't think so, I think there will be a hi revving V6 in HSV with an 8 sp auto.

Make an 8 sp manual and see how the manual bois like it, lol

I think you'll be getting a 7 speeder soon enough. The C7 Corvette has gone to 7 speed manual, so I wouldn't be surprised that when HSV updates to the LT1 in a year or two, we get a 7 speed manual instead of the 6 speed.

    Cheers, Matthew
