I love driving my brothers golf r. Nimble little thing.

My biggest fear is missing the sheer grunt of the sc v8. Sure the cla is quick to 100. It's the launch control that gets that. 1/4 time I have seen is 13.1 and that tells me it doesn't have enough to carry it through (not that it is slow). The gt spoilt me that way. It never stops pulling.

A big v8 with a low psi sc is a completely different beast to a 4 cyl being shoved full of air at high psi. Then there is size of car, handling etc etc.

One is not better than the other but they are polar opposites. A big, high tech exceptionally well optioned sc v8 made locally is going to be hard to pass up.

But, as it stands, deposit is still down on the nimble highly strung foreigner. Looking less likely though.

I don't when I will swap the gt. time to see the GTS. Not long now.

I've had similar experiences with cars, great handling turbo 4/6's vs better than standard handling V8s. Drive back to back and you have a fun day, try and ask for the best of both in one and give yourself a brain aneurism......

If the GTS comes out at 430kw, will that be near its capacity in terms of power/torque. Or is that some what detuned? Will it be like the FPVs, where by a tune only will get a massive gain? Will a tune only bump it to nearly 400rwkw like the GTs? Excuse my ignorance, but i'm not as up to date on the GM range of motors. Regardless, we have a couple of very nice and very powerful cars to choose from. Looking forward to next year!

It's not like the FPV's in that regard. Just look at what the US is getting out of this engine. The blower is the restriction and is why a lot of shops tend to overdrive them with a smaller pulley. Or ditch it for a bigger unit

6.2L vs 5L. What's the saying ? There's no substitute for cubic inches ?? Surely the potential of this thing will be enormous..

The LSA comes in two states of tune that I know of. Around 410KW for the Cadillac CTS-V and 430KW for the Camaro ZL1.

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

It will be an awesome car for sure, but what i mean is; Is the 430kw as de-tuned as the FPV? The de-tuned FPV is still putting out near 400kw... What i'm trying to get at is, imagine the potential for the GTS if the 430kw is de-tuned as much as the FPV. Or, is it already near its limits, eg: as Macca said the blower being the major restriction. Is there anymore in the 'standard' motor for the tuners to play with? A supercharger upgrade is always possible, but i'm sure many would be happy with a nice tune if it got a good gain.

Personally, I'd be happy with a tune, full exhaust and nice sounding cam... That would do me for mods, provided the injectors etc were capable and i didn't need supporting mods to ensure reliability.

it would have to be de-tuned just to offer a warranty....... after warranty, tune it and step back as it shreds the drive train ........

Except when you compare the volumetric efficiencies of the 2 different engine technologies: DOHC V OHV... It levels the playing field some what, that 1.2l "advantage" is significantly deminished..

Your looking at stock the LSA puts out about 340rwkw. Tune AND an overdrive pulley about 400rwkw. Without the pulley I don't think there will be much in it at all compared to a tune only GT.

Yep the Ford does a very good job with its much smaller capacity

Haha, sounds like we are having the same internal debate about what to do. Nice problem to have of course!
I'm still tending towards the CLA45 AMG at this stage and my deposit is still in. Trying to decide whether to also throw a deposit on a GTS. Still have the VZSS and might keep the 370z but not 100% sure what I'll do. 1st world problems eh?
