Yuck yuck yuck. My apologies to Ghosn

Is the GTS front bar the same as the Maloo R8?

It's similar but not the same. On the Maloo R8 and Clubby R8 the DRLs are moved to the top of the black sections and spotlights/foglights are installed below. Where the GTS has mesh in those sections, the Maloo R8 and Clubby R8 get fins like on the bonnet and fender vent on the black edition E3's. The GTS seems to miss out on spotties but the rest of the range all the way down to the base models get them?

Front end reminds me of the understated styling of M series BMW and AMG Mercs. Not that it looks similar, but in that it still looks tough without being over the top garish. However, I think they've pulled it back a bit too far from the boyracer look of the E3's to the point that the front of the SS almost has more visual appeal. As for the back end .... not a fan. It looks like they took the OK look of the SS and fed it a hamburger to add some fatness, but not in a good way. The tailights look better, but the bumper is a bit ho-hum.

That settles it then. Ever since the design of the E2 began HSV has gone full retard and has no idea what they're doing. At a glance you'd think someone moulded a VE Series II front bumper onto a VF. Looks like HSV are drastically cutting costs by ditching unique rear quarter panel/tail lights as well

If heaps of other people agree, I wonder if VE resale values might stay high.

Although i liked the overdone aggressiveness of the E3 i was more a fan of the subtle anger the Senator had. I know alot of people on here and in other walks of life think the E2/3 were overdone, bring on the Gen F and now people are complaining that it is to subtle, honestly it's a tough crowd.

If you think BMW 'M', Mercedes AMG and Audi 'RS' they all have a very similar appearance to the donor car with a slight hint of agro, and it would take a good eye or a fan to pick the difference between an Audi S5 vs the RS5.
I think HSV have gone that route and i reckon it'll go along way to ditch the "Bogan" tag associated.

I think the problem is that the donor car has become more aggressively styled, and HSV have wound theirs back, so it seems on the surface like they haven't made much of an effort for the extra $$. I've always loved the Senator of each range for the fact it had more understated styling than the Clubby, but it was still a lot tougher looking than an SS. Now the Calais and Senator have grown and lot closer in looks, as have the SS and the Clubby. HSV was always going to have a hard time giving more than the base product has, 'cause Holden have gone all out with the tricky gear this time.
The back end is probably a lot better to look at in the flesh. I think the car has potential to look great with a bit of suspension work and some aftermarket wheels. Doesn't take much to give an understated car a much more aggressive look.

Bit hard for them to move the tail light when Holden dragged the corner of it into the rear quarter on the VF, VE had a nice straight line which gave them scope to play with.

I like the current tail lights too but they do have to work within the framework of what Holden gives them.
