I know as a "younger" family man, looking for a new car in the past 6 months for a FAMILY (3 x car seats for the next 6 years) the choices out there are actually pretty poor. There is only 3 cars on the market (without going over $60K - so avge Jo Blo) that will fit 3 car seats across one row = fact. So your pretty incorrect there, the Commodore is a family car, sales of the SS Wagon are more than double of the V6 equiv, why? Because the ladies (mums) LOVE the wagon, the Hubby's love the V8. So many different factors for purchasing cars these days, do you live in the city or the country, that makes a BIG difference to what you purchase. (BTW - 19' tyres out here in the "dirt" are comparitive to the city.)

As do I, but you shouldn't rubbish a product you dont own, or get to drive on a regular basis as you have no real experience to base that advice. I really hope the public takes up on them, becuase overall, they are a good piece of kit for the Australian market.

I drive to the conditions taking into account the machinery Im using ( which sometimes belongs to someone else ) and keep left ( or right if north ), if its an older car I respect its limitations and dont go exploring them, may I suggest and recommend you do the same in your Clubsport on a public road. If I can drive a classic or vintage car safely, I can apply the same technique to a modern car.

Racing is an extreme, the point of my explanation was to show that even in extreme cases, ie "racing", the chassis of the Commodore is extremely solid in past to present, unless you plan on going to extremes, rigidity is irrelevant, though it doesnt take a physicist to comprehend that if high speed and a steel car collides with a solid object, be it made from concrete, steel or wood, it doesnt matter how stiff the chassis will be, it will still shred like paper, it wont matter how many airbags or electronic aids you have, ask the guys here who go clean out the mess, the emergency crew and coppers will tell you and show you if you can stomach it.

3 kids in family, use a Hyundai people mover, 7 seater. I do 3-4000km down under split between 3 cars and about the same up north split between 2 cars.

I can comment as to how dated and unevolved a product is if my money and many millions of Australians is used to design and build a product that only caters to a shrinking market, dont want the criticism?

Hand back the money to me and to the millions of other Australians who have no interest in buying said car, GM can go build a 10 litre V8 quad turboed car, put 22in rims on it and go on thy merry way. Dont expect to take money from the public and not be criticised without building a product that caters to the market.

That car was estimated to be doing in excess of 200Km/h in a 60km/h zone around a bend and the driver screwed up on illegal drugs and alcohol, that is not the point of the safety devices, i think you are being a little silly. There is nothing short of a fully race prepared car that would survive an impact like that.

Passive and active safety devices are there to assist in the event of an accident or collision and generally are designed for medium impact crashes, not 200km/h - 0km/h in .05sec. I'll refer you back to my earlier example, 100km/h the truck in the lane next to you but just in front of you loses his load into your lane, you swerve it's pissing down rain, you over correct ( a pro would struggle here) and fish tale straight into another car.........DEAD........ Try that again on a car with ESP, EBD, ABS and BA and the difference is light and day.

What I said, if you can read it again, is that compared to a new car with "smarts" it IS a skittish unsettled and unnerving ride, in the rain even more so. It was highlighting your idiotic statement that ESP, otehr safety innovations and forwrd progress etc is shit, the driving "experience" of a VE is way better than any model before it, just like the VT was leaps ahed of the VS for the "Experience" at that time. as for the fitting three car seats in a car, READ WHAT WAS WRITTEN BEFORE REPLYING.

FIT three seat acorss ONE ROW. 3 kids mate not 5. Also, the Sportwagon is way more appointed then that cheap piece of shit. (I have driven them), I looked at EVERYTHING when I was purchasing my new car, I went out with the intention of NOT buying a Falcon or Commodore. But they are too well equipped and spec'd for the aussie market (and the coin) and as I said, under $60K there is only THREE cars that can fit three carseats across the ONE ROW.

How about the tens of BILLIONS given to bludging little fuks that sit on their arse for ever? The thousands that are claiming "mental anguish etc" to claim unemployment benefits, Get that money back before you go after someones livelyhood. Im happy my money is there, and with Ford and Toyota.

If you are driving a car where you need to have airbags fitted and electronics required to drive safe, I suggest that its your level of driving that requires review, never had an issue driving a VS, even back to a VB at all because I drove within its limits.

No point getting angry at me, no intention to buy a VF nor do I manufacture it, again, I find it interesting that people are angry at non buyers So buyers should be forced to buy a Holden is that it? Buyers shouldnt have a choice?

So Speedy, do you have comprehensive insurance on any of your cars, or just fire and theft?

I'm assuming you don't have comp insurance, as obviously it would be a waste of money given you will never be in an accident, even one that was not of you own doing, because you always drive within the car's limits, so does everyone around you, and you drive in perfect controlled environments where nothing out of your control could ever go wrong.

I see you said you also drive 'up north' - I always wondered where Utopia was from here.
