Seriously, we only took delivery of our new C63 just over a year ago....it has some nice options like the Performance engine, L.S.D.,keyless go & some other stuff....it is a really nice car...but I reckon the GTS will be quicker.
But, to trade now, would be financial suicide...and that's not what I do.....so, for the time being...I will be an enthusiastic onlooker....and congratulating HSV on a car they should have done at least 12 months ago.
    Cheers, Pickles.
Drivers race I'd say with the performance pack.
Going to the HSV dealer tomorrow. I'm interested to see how firm they will be with pricing.

I suspect they'll be very firm at this point in time. It's brand new and selling like hotcakes. If you don't want to pay the asking price, there's probably someone who will

This is very true and if it becomes a bidding war due to the rumour of it having a limited annual production run, there is a chance potential buyers will turn away.

I’d like to buy one but not until after I actually see them and if I have to fight for it then I’m not interested.

I’m just as happy to wait for the new C63 to be released. Hopefully it’ll be the twin turbo 5.5 litre.

I don't think it will be the 5.5 egine.
Turbo'd for sure, but smaller capacity.
But, I really have NO idea! Cheers, Pickles.

The more I look at the pics and think about the performance on offer for around $100,000 the more I agree with you.

If by firm you mean whether they have exact pricing then they don't yet. I doubt there will be any negotiating the price, however! The Brisbane dealership I went to on Saturday thinks exact price in 1-2 weeks.
Sure hope they don't decide to jack it up at the last minute (even though they could). Would send a message of being a bit too greedy by half - I don't think HSV will do this.

They seem to be selling very well which is great for the industry. Hopefully the rest of the range does the same.

I can't see HSV playing silly buggers and upping the price.

I suspect you may be right but I can hope.

They said Mercedes would never allow a 6.2 litre in a C-Class and AMG did just that and it became one of their biggest successes ever.
Then they went even more ballistic and released the Black Series.

Fingers crossed as a detuned 5.5 litre twin turbo would follow the lines of the last offering.

You won’t be able to tell if they are selling well until the initial order flurry for a new release model is over.

Once the early adopters and those who have been waiting to upgrade have cleared their wallets, demand will settle then a true indication of the pattern of sales will become available.

It would be interesting to know if the dealers are taking many orders outside of the GTS and for which models.

I don`t think HSV are that silly George.

HSV learnt a lot from their W427 debacle.......in regards to pricing and the enthusiats walked away in droves.

Initial pricing for those started at $120K....then went to $140K, when there was a bit of interest shown ...then we were told $150K...and then the government put up the luxury tax and the RRP went to $155,500 plus on roads , plus options (SAT NAV was not standard lol), which meant that some of the first buyers paid about $171,000 on the road.

When you are paying that sort of money for a car, you would think that Sat Nav or Sunroof , would be standard on a locally produced car , but no that was extra.

So , out of the initial 1000 expressions of interest ....only 137 were sold . These other buyers went and bought something else.

HSV and some dealers became greedy and tried to dictate the market, but in the end they lost. You should never lose a sale .

The last lot of W427 were selling for $151,000.....OTR , well that`s what I could have bought one for.

I know at least 6 people personally that were initially interested in the W427 , but bought something else in that price bracket.

Congrats to the initial purchasers who bought W427`s , but HSV would have sold "A LOT" more if the pricing was right ...........
If it has tits or wheels, it will give you trouble .

I know some the hsv people well and w427 was considered a success. No point going that path again.

W427 was a long time ago now and things have changed.

I think the early success of the gen f GTS is based on several factors, one of which is price or should I say perceived value for money.

    .
I agree. The first x amount was always going to do well. It's what happens when that initial flurry ends that I am interested in.

As I mentioned, let's see how the rest of the range goes. Will the GTS be strong enough branding to help the rest of the gen f line up.

    Hey bouka,

You have beeen spending way too much time down at HSV.

They only sold 137 out of 427 that were planned for production, don`t let them brain wash you .

They would have sold a lot more if they if they looked after their customers ......

I have built some relationships over the last decade and enjoy their company.

Lol at brainwashed, I own a sc FPV gt and have a deposit on an AMG.

They did what you wanted. W427 was in late 2008. It's now mid 2013!

Just go and buy one and stop whinging.
