The same blokes that could only manage a slower 4.9 for the RSPEC? Something doesn't add up right ...

In the latest drive video comparing an xr6 to an SS. The xr6 still comfortably beats the SS. The xr is not a sub 5sec car so do the math

Watch that original vid a couple of times. You hear the wheel spin well before the needle moves. I clocked it at least as 5.5sec. So there may be an issue with the gauges in the VF reacting slowly. You can see it through the gear change too.

I'll be honest, seen heaps around Adelaide don't really like it, looks like a cruze was pumped out.... time will tell.

pffft... I love my Holdens but i don't believe that at all, Drive.com.au road tested the VF SS-V vs the FG II XR6T and the turbo still smoked it in a straight line even in the wet. It was 0-100km/h in 5.5sec and 6.0sec respectively i think from memory, give each car a .5sec handicap for a damp surface and we are still a fair way off.

I would and hope i really do hope to be proven wrong though!

I very much doubt a genuine 4.8 sec.

The launch control on the redline should help it get to 100kmh quicker though. If it was a genuine 4.8 I would be upset if the Gts didn't break into the 3's

Launch control will only help muppets that can't drive. It will not give you half a second gain EVER!

Really does anyone believe sub 5 seconds for the sprint for an SS? Why? What changes have been made to the driveline? I don't have any info other than the web but I thought the only driveline upgrade was the GTS. So that means dropping 40 - 80kg equals 5 seconds? Don't think so.

I've only seen the pics so far, but personally I'm not keen on the new look. I liked the look of Calais V in the reveal back in February, but the more pics I see, the less I like them. Interior on the other hand is big improvement, apart from the ratchet seat adjustment which is a big disappointment for me. I have a MY10 VE SV6 and the interior and the seats are very bland, even VEII's aren't that much better, but at least you do get the SS type seats and climate air and the improved stereo located higher in the dash. Early this year I looked at a near new VE II Calais V, and even that top of the range car looks bland inside, around the same time I looked at the new Mazda 6 (base model) and the interior looks so much better than any VE or VE II. Holden are definitely need of an upgraded interior for the Commodore.

Yes you are right, I wonder why they would post false times?

Re: VF Commodore revealed - Official details and pics - Part 3

I think the main advantage of the launch control would be to allow consistent results. Getting the best 0-100 can take a lot of trial and error and some cars can be notoriously difficult to launch consistently. The best 0-100 times let us see the potential with an ideal launch but real world repeatable results in the traffic light GP can be different. Just the other week I easily dusted off a manual XR6T that had much more power by just driving off the line with the old auto cammed VZSS. Good grip (275 tyres) easy to launch auto etc beats a lot more power in the real world every time. I'm sure a roll on would have been very different but what's the point of all that power if you can't put it down?

Because they just timed the dial rather than the car. Watch the video a few times

http://performancedrive.com.au/2014-...-launch-video/ not sure if this whole article has been posted yet?
some more vids and good info here of the SV6 and the SS as well as the SSV. Apparently the 4.8 they got wasnt even with launch control in the ssv either....
