Does it seem that all along the bonnet and front bar were designed to have the Senator grill insert, but that when they made the other models, they couldn't be F'd changing the dimensions slightly? It still kinda irks me that the front bar and bonnet don't transition smoothly at the grill eg GTS pic above. Meh, I guess I'll hardly have to look at it from the inside

I think it fits ok but the way the panels sit it looks like the bonnet is too wide. If you open up the high res images and zoom in the bonnet follows the line, at least that is how it seems to me. Hard to tell though until I see one lying naked and wanton on my driveway.

Sorry missed this. My photoshopping is pretty basic but here is an idea. Should be darker because of the shadow but I left it lighter to give a better idea. Having said that don't think it is a winner though.

And here is a close up of the bonnet area. There is a black trim panel that is hard to pick up.

This is probably a bit more realistic. Still prefer the black though.

I am definately going to take the LSA off. When I had a SC V6 VT I had to replace that badge quite a few times mostly because the moron who stole it used a screwdriver and damaged the paint underneath. This time I will take away the temptation. I know it will make the GTS look like an R8, expecially with the wheels and wing I have chosen but that is fine by me.

I took an auto VF R8 for a spin today. Its a highly impressive car inside and out. The attention it was getting on the test drive was really interesting. Every bloke on the street turned their heads. Externally it does have presence. I did not find the back lights silly looking as they do in pictures. It is a big car. It dwarfs my V36 skyline, which is both narrower and shorter.

The auto is impressive. I cant beleive its the same box as in the VE? Can't wait to feel the better GTS auto. At slow speeds there was no hesitation on changing up. Up shifts are faster compared to the 7spd in the Skyline. The steering is heavy, but not BMW heavy. It feels more comunicative. Shifting manually in sports mode at higher speeds, the changes are barely noticable. There was little body roll for a large car. It accelerates fast once in 2nd gear, but I could see myself getting use to it quickely.

For the interior. It's like the seats were made for someone my size, 6ft and 90kg. You can sit quite low in the car, which is the way I like it. The dash layout is nice and simple. The interior is just as nice as a C series merc. The heads up display is also novel.

The dealer will be talking with my practice manager and giving me a quote on a black GTS, auto with sunroof. The total was 106k on the road, but I wouldn't pay that much. I have a feeling it can be had for 100K.

Auto is $2,500 and the sunroof $2,400 including LCT. The rest is on roads. Rego and CTP about a grand and then stamp duty. The LCT overall is nearly $10k. If the government wanted to encourage local sales dump the LCT on local cars and do a better deal on FBT. That would encourage me to buy, oh wait, I have anyway

Re: HSV Gen- F Launched - Official Pics/Video and details (Warning: pic heavy)

Friday afternoon i saw the white R8 thats been in the magazines, drive past me on Alexandar parade..... that front looked great(once i relaised what it was coming my way), the rear end.... just looks f@#king shit..... It looked good driving under the shade of the trees overhanging hte road though. What i did notice was the DRL's weren't on during the day...i must have missed the mentioning of them being able to be switched off?
The same day, i saw 3 SV Packs, going over the westgate on the back of a track.. 2 x blacks & 1 x white... all with low spoiler.... all looked like Mazda's...... Maybe its the mix of Asian Influence & being all in black.... i dont know.... but for the moment.. these cars aren't really making me 'pitch wood' in my trousers just yet....... well, not in the same way that the E1 did anyhow.

Also took a new SSV wagon for a drive on friday...... definately a nicer ride than my e series Wagon & that interior is sublime!

You're probably going to find discounts hard to come by on the GTS this year. The order books are pretty flush.
Might be a struggle to pull six grand out of it at the moment. Hope you can, though.

Yes, I see what you mean. I am worried that is going to look el cheapo on a $100,000 car. Why on Earth doesn't the front bar interface with the bonnet without the 'step' there? That is some very, very bad panel gap and finish in that pic above that mjrandom posted, check out the headlight fit. I sure hope the production versions are better, otherwise they haven't improved since the VL days. In the Murph video the fit on that GTS looks a lot better.
