Go in instead. Look like a serious buyer etc. I think you'll get a better price if you are in there wanting to put your money down. They won't want you leaving without a signature. I think you'll usually get a much better deal sitting there rather than on the phone.

I agree, need to visit dealer not ring for best deal. They will not give good price on the phone.

Re: VF Commodore revealed - Official details and pics- Part 2

Recently signed up for a HSV Tourer R8 SV.
Went to about 8 dealers in Melbourne and one in Geelong. The attitudes of the salesmen were extremely varied, from “RRP is what we offer you” to “come back when you have seen all the other dealers and I will beat them”. One (Geelong) even wanted to tell me all he knew about the GTS, not listen to what I wanted, and I walked (as I did others).
Couple of others were quite relaxed and, as salesmen, open to discussing my thoughts on prices and negotiating.
Another thing I found was the the “old” salesmen were the worst, their bad attitude, assumed they were knew better, etc. (Caveat : I am OLDER than them:-)
I basically went in with a “I am trying to decide whether to upgrade my (FPV) GT or not, I am looking for the best price, and will decide the dealer based on the outcome”. The dealers I finally selected were low pressure (though “clever”), and in the end I selected a deal I was happy with, though I think I could have done better (or maybe just stuck with my GT).

Looking forward to the new wagon in a month.

Bit hard to go in though if you live miles away, as I did and Deco does. Fair point though.

When I called up I stated I lived in the country, not happy with local offerings, what can you do? Like I said, one phone call was all it took for me to buy from 5 hours away.

It is just an add for a dealer mate, nothing to do with GMH. The guy doing it was actually the owner of the dealership anyway.

It looks like a well worn track through the yard, may be that's how they treat all of their new cars
Must be part of the pre-delivery price - a new set of rubber...
