Lol. Maybe go for the gts :-P
Bit of a price difference from ssv to the hsv. But if you can afford it then why not lol
I had my mind all made up SSV Redline manual....it was all so clear, I was even thinking maybe just the SSV will do and will be $6k or so cheaper...So I test drove the SSV Redline today and thought yep pretty awesome happy days......THEN I SAID HOW ABOUT TAKING THE R8 FOR A TEST DRIVE!!! I was thinking could it really be $20k better....looks about the same.....sitting inside feels about the same....NOPE IT DOES NOT DRIVE THE SAME!!
Time to sleep on it

20k will get you a nice blower/suspension/brake package......just sayin
Also it might be just me but I never buy a car based on what it might worth in the future. For me buying a car means money spent written off carry on.
I have the same problem (a nice one to have), i think the Redline is the bargain of the century but the R8 really is on another level. The R8 is gonna set you back around $80k compared to the Redline $59000, is the R8 really $20k more car? No, i don't reckon it is but the thing is one is an HSV and one is not.
For someone like me who can't see how a HSV can be $20k better than an SS, can you explain the difference in driving?
2007 VE SS M6 - Ignition
2013 JH Cruze SRi M6 - Redhot
1971 VW Super Beetle - Moss Green
The brakes are far superior, the LS3 is built stronger and goes a lot harder. The Conti tyres have a helluva lot more gripp as well. The seats are better and you get the EDI as well. The drivers preference dial is also a neat touch as well. The electric steering is a tad better too.
Oh and the thing i prefer the most is the R8 doesn't cop that gaudy looking cream faux alcantra looking crud on the seat and dash.
Other than that not much really, and as both you and i said there is not $20,000 better car in the HSV but some of that must be attributed to the badge and the exclusivity it provides.
Is it $20k better? Depends who's buying it huh.
Depends if its going to be your daily or moment in the sun... If this car is going to be the one that your going to drive after hours, enjoy driving on sunny weekends & make your Saturday morning dedicated to cleaning your baby... Get the R8.... If not... Buy the Redline.
Saw a black R8 yesterday, like the rear a bit better than the Redline. I couldn't afford R8 so stuck with redline when it eventually arrives![]()
My HSVs and FPVs have all been daily drivers. I also drive on crappy roads to our various job sites. Is that a bad thing?
