SAP is still causing as many headaches as it did initially upon it's introduction in February. You name an issue, and it's pretty much guaranteed to have happened each week since...even now.
Actually, it's probably causing everyone even more headaches, because everyone that was in a job using it at it's February introduction is now 6 months even more brain f#cked by it.
There are a LOT of exhausted people out there trying to figure out just how to possibly maintain decent customer service through all this...
Been through many SAP implementations myself, and the main issues are nothing to do with SAP. Mainly with the planning and the understanding of the business processes that have not been mapped out properly BEFORE hand.
I suppose the real question, is what and how is it managed today? IT teams working on it in part, or are the programmers taken off to their next project?
Yeah we have SAP at work. I have decided the title reflects that it seems to SAP your energy as you constantly curse it every time they change something.
Those whacky Germans. There was a mining company here in Perth who went SAP back in the day.
The project ran $100M over budget. Yes million! By the time they got all of their other systems talking to it they had to upgrade, which, you guessed it, cost another $60M. I never understood how a company can spend that sort of money and ever see an ROI...
Ordered some parts from my dealer 2 weeks ago and had the bits in 2 days.
One does have to ask the question that, whilst you may be correct, why do so many "large" organisations seem to have so many issues with it's implementation?
In Holden's case, a significant amount of behind the scenes testing occurred- where it was going well- then as soon as it was hit with "real world" volumes in a real time environment, it collapsed badly.
Very badly.
And still has many, many issues six months later. Everyone is suffering from the relentless energy drain from coming in day after day after day to many of the same major issues for so long!
There is STILL a SAP team on the case.
PD..it took 11 days for a bottom radiator hose for my VF Calais V V8 to be sourced and arrive at the dealership. The car was a week old with 567km on the clock when the hose split dumping the coolant.
Do you think this is an acceptable time to source the hose considering the car was off the road for 11 days and I was without my new car ?
If the part was in stock at HSPO and SAP related issues were affecting it's delivery then no, it's not acceptable.
If, however, it was actually on backorder and stock had to come into HSPO, then it's a normal backorder scenario, which will always have some sort of delay.
Being a VF though, I suspect it was an actual genuine backorder rather than a SAP issue.
