Re: Brake Upgrade For Temora 1000m

My OEM rotors and replacement RDA rotors never warped on me, just got lots of stress cracks like this. At the time RDA front rotors where $70 each, compared to $150 from holden. So when the stress cracks got excessive, I just replaced them with new RDA rotors. Machining the rotors like this wasn't an option, as the cracks would still be there.

    Over 600rwhp, same tune i ran when it did a 10.2 -1/4

I was running 4 pot brembo's all round, and the rotors had signs of severe heat discolouration so they were getting plenty hot, haha.

yet same 4 pot brembo on my vy ute doing 240 pulled up well before i needed it too. Lot less weight than the porka ve

    Hi Wonks,

I know its not the same but I am running EBC reds up front with standard rotors and calipers, the difference was night and day.

I know I am not pulling up from 240kmh but I am pulling up 2.5t, they are aggresive though and dusty, but I dont care i can now stop !!!!

There has not been a cutoff, entries still open.

The better track is debatable but the faster times set by the same cars have all been done at Temora. Both events have used the same timing company but after a number of errors Temora has purchased its own Tag heuer system which should put an end to errors.

Wonky I think on stock size brakes some brake ducting would be wise and cheap.

The runway at Cooma is that long you don't need good brakes.
I just backed off, and let the car coast, then braked normally like you would approaching a roundabout to pull in to the end pits.

Yeah at Temora unfortunately the shorter 18/36 strip is used which is 1467m. The longer one, 05/23 is 2040m

Dirt/sand, than grass. 400m is long enough to stop. Not like you will be doing 400kph.

You might want to rethink if the stock brakes are good enough for this and what is the purpose of their use. Are you trying to have enough stopping power to just barely make it without crashing or have proper stopping leeway giving your more confidence?

Re: Brake Upgrade For Temora 1000m

OK, I'm swaying between pads only as some people suggest and rotors and pads. I'm probably going to try the Remsa pads (around $170 all 4), the only potential downside being possibly a bit more dust. If they turn out to be too dusty then I'll eventually replace them with something else, but I'm always willing to try something few others have tried. For that reason I was one of the first to try a full KPM 3" system, also one of the first down here to try a DUS OTR and one of the first to try H&R coilovers. All three I'm rapt with so if the Remsas prove to be too dusty (the only potential negative I've read of with them) then it will be my first strike out.......... Reading people's views on any car stuff is so confusing because some people love X (whatever X is) and others bag it! Eventually you just have to make a decision and hope you are happy. 3 out of 3 so far!

I'm also possibly going to go for some cryo treated RDA rotors. Some people have suggested RDA are good and a few have said they're not but I was also told that cryo treatment gives them much greater longevity, particularly when they're subject to lots of heat. Mine will only be subjected to extreme heat at Temora and not in daily driving but better safe than sorry!

At the moment I reckon RDA7904D (slotted and dimpled) front rotors and RDA7905S (slotted only) with all four cryo treated will cost me around $400 all up. DBA4000 T3s which I'd love to have would be double that and now I can no longer work I can't afford that.
