You do know that the GTO was first introduced in 2001 and the VZ Commodore in late 2004???
Is the Commodore VZ the closest Commodore model to the GTO, other then the Monaro.

He's talking American... Pontiac GTO
Dammit...my Tapatalk doesn't show the OPs location.
Your question now makes sense, sorry John.
In that case the VY/VZ Commodore would be the closest thing to the GTO. When I buy parts from the USA for my VY SS Commodore I just tell them that I need parts for a 2004 Pontiac GTO and the shop understands what I need

Mechatron, I guess I need to work in reverse. When looking in my Max Ellery book I need to be looking for VY/VZ info. The commodore is a 4 door car, right?
You guys have some cool cars that we dont have, like that UTE. I saw pics of one that was called a monaro pickup. Its like a gto pickup truck. Get some goods at the hardware store and still be able to drag race it home.
I didn't get the location on Tapatalk either, that was just the way I read the OP...
Yes, the Commodore is a 4 door. Our Monaro is essentially the GTO. But Mechatron was getting mixed up as HSV do a model which also called the GTO over here.
This 'monaro pickup' sounds interesting. Lots of modifed V8 utes over here though!
Yes the VZ is the model and the HSV the closest as I'm pretty sure the US GTO's came with the LS2 engine drivetrain.
yeah VZ HSV coupes would be the closest fit to the 2006 GTO.
The 2004 Pontiac GTO came out with the LS1, whereas the 2005 & 2006 model came factory fitted with the LS2 engine
They don't sell them direct to the general public - they are only supplied to the police - but then we can pick them up at police disposal auctions. She sucks nitro, with phase 4 heads. 600 horsepower through the wheels. She's meanness set to music and the bitch is born to run.
Those black ones are called 'V8 Interceptors' and are quite rare - there is a 4-door version called 'Pursuit' that is more common, which comes with a yellow, blue and red livery - but they aren't blown - you don't shut the gate on those ones, as they aren't the duck's guts.

There's probably more Mad Max replicas in the US than Australia. Here's one in NY.
