From what I Googled I gather the wide mouth filter (see pic below on left) is actually from the 6L90.

    Re: Filling 6L80E

6l90e has different pans and filters for various GM model installs, as does 6l80e.
For example the Camaro 6l90e filter / pickup will have 24236931 on the box, does not have wide mouth and looks similar to the VE unit. The right part number on correct filter itself is 24236517 being the "wide mouth" filter from the 6L90 of a CTS-V, part number number for the filter kit (comes with a seal) is 24236933 and is different to the Camaro one, as compared in your picture.
I have two Camaro SS pans and CTS-V wide mouth pickups coming next week as deep pan kits (gaskets, seals, etc).
Cost me $130 each via courier, one spare...

I guess this didn't work out after all as no response to the question in the post after that or to my PM.

Mate iv been busy and hadn't got back to it!
The part number should be: Jxf609000
    Bout $60-$80 from Repco
They are listed in their systems as the 6l90e filter but it is the correct one to suit the caddy pans gaz05 is selling!

    Re: Filling 6L80E

I wonder whether the extra capacity of the wide mouth filter (almost 10% wider body, assuming same depth???) also helps it work better to avoid starvation and sucking air under heavy acceleration?

    Re: Filling 6L80E

and here i was sticking with stock pan/filter and running 1.5 - 60's with no issues.

While I agree'd initially with doing this mod, for the cost outlay of trying to get the pans to aus it's probably not worth it, when the simplest fix is to just overfill the pan. In which case you will still need to do with the new one.

In saying that though, i'm still looking to test one of these deeper sumps out, but i dont see it making much difference for me.

Missed replying to this - what part no is the Camaro deep pan? The Caddy pan I got is #24235511 and I'm guessing they're the same.

Overfilling the stock unit made no difference to my A6.

You have one huge advantage over most of us though Dave - you are now a guru on A6 tuning and have no doubt spent many hours perfecting your A6 tune to be just how you want it.

Oops! Actually, when I looked back the one I got a friend in America to get me was #24250062 and it was identical to the eight I got from Holden (#24235511). The one pictured however is not identical as it has a drain plug on the right in the pic on Pace's website, which none of the nine I got had. I'm sure you won't get any more pans here as I got the last 8 Holden had and they told me they weren't getting more (I used to work at HSPO and still have good contacts there - in fact I don't know why they ever stocked them as had only sold one or two in 5 years).

However, you can buy with confidence from Pace as that's where I bought my dozen filters from and they were very helpful - that's a great price too!!

    Re: Filling 6L80E

it would be interesting to see if they get in those 0062 pans seeing as the lsa motor in the gts would also use the same gbox as the camaro. anyone know if they have a deeper pan on the gts?

    Re: Filling 6L80E

I've had the kit on my car for about two weeks now, none of the problems below, feels like it pulls smoother and stronger in normal mode.
All transmission issues completely solved. Of course still goes through 'warm up' cycle when you need to baby it as it holds gears a little longer and behaves differently to when it's warmed up.
    Original Problems:
Worst was when TC off in manual mode laying rubber second through to third hit false neutral!
Other times after hot run in sports mode come to stop at intersection turning right would keep first - no change!
Watch first five seconds or so of this vid to witness what the problem is and what prompted me to do the conversion. This is in Sports mode after moderately spirited downhill driving (link available), turning right increasing to WOT:

Sliding right would flare up for a few seconds, other times holds on to gears too long (light throttle), flares from 2nd to 3rd (not all the time) or pause when I try to take off quickly after braking (eg. coming to a round about and then powering right through it).
    Solution:
Our box goes better and runs cooler (+/- 3º with coolant temp) without starvation using a wider pickup submerged 50mm deeper and about 2litres more Dexron VI
    24250062 6L80 PAN $US33.81
    24224781 6L80 Gasket $US19.81
    24236933 6L90 Filter $US55.62
    USPS shipping $US71.63
