I don't think it matters if the cars are slower at first. As long as it's entertaining. Being relevant to a car you can actually buy is what touring cars used to be all about. If one car dominates so be it. Use the rules to control it somewhat is fine so costs don't blow out. But making all the cars identical is just plain boring when you accept that's what they are. Which is where we are today. You would have to be extremely ignorant to hang you hat on a brand because they win a race in today's scene. The fact is the brand you hang your hat on and the success they have has nothing to do with the brands engineering skills. It's all in the teams ability to set it up.

There's no way any car relevant to the average Australian would even get a look in. Given the choice there is only a handful of production cars that these teams would consider, and they're all 100k+. A field of Ferraris, McLarens and Nissan GTRs is just as relevant to 98% of Australians as the V8 Supercars.

The elite racing classes on all continents have nothing to do with production cars. F1, NASCAR, V8 Supercars, Le Mans prototype, all 100% racecars, 0% road cars.

Great race today.... a brilliant drive by Whincup & Dumbrell....pretty good effort for a new car, & good to see Mercedes getting up there.
    Cheers, Pickles.

I had nothing to do today so me and a neighbour went up to Sandown for the v8s.

Seems the Mercs aside from sounding ****ing tits don't have as much speed difference as the Nissans do. The triple 8 cars are just phenomenally quicker than anyone else so destroyed the day making racing mid pack the only entertainment.

Something needs to be done, V8 supercars have either missed the mark doing their homologation testing or have made the rules in favour of the existing cars. Doesn't help a business case for newcomers if the new makes are threatening pulling out already.
GM: Has millions of dollars and highly trained engineers.

Well, I certainly don't think the race was boring.
However, on your other comments?....well, yes, the situation is interesting. There is a shortage of money amongst the Teams, caused to some extent by the disasterously smaller TV "Deal". The money just isn't there..I heard Courtney's deal was about 50% of what he was getting.
So, yeah, it all looks good on the surface, but a lot of teams are doing it tough....interesting days ahead?
    And then there's Ford's involvement?
    Cheers, Pickles.
