Mate, you may not believe this, but it's true...I do not understand what E85 is all about.....I presume it's got ethanol in it, which I thought didn't "burn" as efficiently as petrol. So an explanation, FOR ME any way, would be appreciated, as to how E85 "works", & how it will give more power in the application that we're talking about?
    Thanks, Pickles.

Do a search on e85 run in boosted cars. High octane combined with the oxygen enriched properties of ethanol have proven time and time again to make power. You run more of it to get the power. But that's no problem if you have the overhead in your fuel system. It's good shit

OK, Yeah, I had a bit of a read on Google....a bit complicated, but I think I understand that it has an octane rating of around 106, the engine has to be set up for E85 to get the best out of it, uses more fuel, but gains can be made around timing & higher boost pressures possible with E85?
    Cheers, Pickles.

I made a gain cam only so it's good for all of us since everyone is generally running higher than 10:1. More comp more gain

Its sort of like running methanol in race cars they use around twice the amount of fuel compared to gasoline powered cars but you can run more boost. Thats the way i remembered it from way back.

Not twice. About 15-20%. Which when you price it up its generally cheaper per km

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

I thought he was talking about methanol using twice as much.

E85 currently seems to work out close to even with a cheaper price but higher usage... just less kms to a tank.

    Re: Supercharged HSV?

Yea i was talking about methanol just use to remember the drag cars use to have to run much bigger fuel systems and also they didnt need to use intercoolers because the inlet temps where way down using methanol.
