I reckon catback and tune are the first on the todo list. You then just need touch up tunes for each mod after that. Most places like Chev's charge $100/hr for any touch up tunes.

    Re: Order of modifications

Car is in getting the mods done. Should be all done and ready to go tomorrow.

I'll report back and let you know what I think.

Hopefully I don't regret doing the extractors / cats over the suspension. I'll more than likely still do the suspension but at a later date. I was only allowed to do one or the other at this point.

You wont have any regrets, and you'll notice the difference as soon as you drive off!

Oooooh yeah, another victim ............. better start working on your 'bargaining' skills big fella, it ain't gunna stop with zorst, tune and suspension mods ..... I only wanted 'a little more' and 18 months later and the equivalent of 5 star 'world trip' later, I'm still 'dreaming' of what's next .................. I have bargained my t1ts off (with the wife...) and sold most of my top shelf toys - fishing, IT, AV, unwanted parts, rims, rubber - even passed up my yearly fishing trip to NZ for a CAM upgrade ..... *sigh* .... it's tragic really ................. but god damn, EVERY time I hit the remote start and get in my wags , I smile like a little girl with her first crush ..............

Ya gota love boys with toys.......

Oh and if I was you, I'd cancel your internet subscription and never log onto here again, as this place is just EVIL .............................. and I LOVE it.........

Welcome to our world........ go and enjoy the new sound and extra grunt you will now have .......

    Re: Order of modifications

I too am interested in your thoughts Drizt. I have just purchased a second had 2010 Calais V. It will be getting tuned a few days after I pick it up and my intention is to call it quits modification wise straight after. I have been told by my tuner that no matter what exhaust combo you go in these, it will drone. Other than at idle, I was surprised at how nice the 6 litre sounds when you get up it, especially since I am comparing it to my Heads and Cam LS1 with custom twin 3 inch. What I will not miss, is the attention that is recieved from a car that can be heard from another post code.

    Re: Order of modifications

The 6ltr sounds great because it is a full dual exhaust (well at least that is what I have been lead to believe). The 6lt also seems to have more low down torque than the LS1 which always did seem to be a bit peaky. The VE in general is just a much better car than the pre VE units.

My car droned even before I made any modifications (stock exhaust, stock everything). The stock VE A6 tune is retarded! Going up a hill at below 60km/h the A6 thought it was a good idea to stay in 6th gear...... brilliant idea. I then got the cat back and the droning became more apparent (when in 'D'rive)due to the extra loudness. I found that if I put it in sports mode the drone was pretty much gone as the A6 was more willing to be in the correct gear. I then got the tune and was able to use 'D'rive again without suffering too much drone. It still got a little noisy under some conditions but I wouldn't really call it drone. I'm hoping the extractors help but would be happy as long as they don't make it worse.

I think if I had my time again I would just go the full Sureflo exhaust from the start. The Sureflo exhaust is no where near as loud as the Di Filippo exhausts (even my 2.5" catback) but it is a bit deeper. Also the fact they have included helmholtz resonators is very very clever. The helmholtz resonators are tuned to the 'drone' frequency and act as destructive interference to remove the drone (audio principles). No other exhaust for the VE that I'm aware of comes like this from the factory.
