Yes there was a issue. Plenty had wrong 60ft times on the night.

Sorry Listy, I didn't quite understand your tailshaft explanation.
"...it is so good to rid that rubbish so called custom made shaft. Piece of junk it is. The carbon fibre one weight just on 5kg and the old one that was in there was a whopping 21kg. No way on earth that was ever going to balance. No issues what so ever with the carbon one. Smooth as silk."
I gather you had a carbon-fibre Gforce tailshaft that weighed 5KG but was no good? And the O/E one was 21kg?
And you now have an alloy one? What brand (couldn't quite read it in the photo). What does it weigh by comparison?
And what brand are the new axles?
BTW...as I suggested when you were contemplating the Gas conversion originally....put it in the bin..
Cheers mate![]()
A grumpy old bugga who has been there and done that...
Sorry missed your post seldo. The Gforce one failed where the carbon connects to the billet yoke. Further up on the thread there is a explanation. The glue/Carbon gave up and it slipped at the connection. Possible heat related or a bad batch of the glue, just no explanation. I had one made locally and it was supposed to be from alloy but they made it from steel and it would not balance properly. After 3 attempts to get it balanced I gave up and purchased a Carbon Fibre one from Diff Technics. Around the same price at Gforce. The only way to tell if it was balanced was go drag racing. As soon as the carbon firbre one was back it was a huge change and so smooth.
Hope that makes sense
Yesterday I was finally back out there on the circuit. Car was spot on again, good clutch, no vibration and the rip shift with the new handle is awesome. So fast. Only thing I had to get used to was going from 5th back to 3rd as the rip shift kept wanting me to go back into 5th. I got the hang of it by the end of the night.
Managed top speed of 220 by the GPS in race 4 at night. it was pretty dark so race 4 video was not that good.
I can first for the nights racing too so good to be back in it. Best lap time for the night was 1.22.4. Good result without the roll cage and race seat. it was in family car mode due to the repairs I needed to get done in the avalanche
One thing about night racing we all got caught out by the brake points not visible so a few big diving brakes and right to the edge of the tarmac. Good fun
Big of video. It is full HD so click on the link for full screen

I have another one uploading from night time.

Some night time video
Little more action watching the tail happy Porsche. Saw it coming bug luckily he spun out wide enough not to go into the wall like two others Porsche have done in the past. Little wave to say hi and you facing the wrong way.
http://youtu.be/J4uFoFqd9eg
The whloe time watching from the rear seat perspective it was "Are we there yet Dad?"
Pity the Porsche guy didn't let you buy...
Sorry wrong link
Night race below

Went out today and got a couple of practice sessions in. Small issue the catch can filled to the top and overfilled and oil spilled onto the alternator. It was ok but missed a bit at top rpm and alt light flashed on a bit. Started to get worse so pulled the pin.
Another strange one was it would not go into reverse at the track when hot but once at home all good. Must need a adjustment or something.
Plenty of Porsches and Austin Martin db9 and other flash cars out there today.
It was a stinker today. Just stupid hot and humid to be driving a race car.
Off season for 2 months now so going to get a few things done
Sort out the side trays on the radiator to fix the few gaps to help it run cooler.
Decide on LPG removal and e85. Can not decide as it would cost like $180 per round in fuel alone. ($3 per ltr race e85 only available) and tune costs etc. got all the parts. Tba
Sort the spoiler out, lights, spoiler under tray fit, new back brake pads, clean the alternator and fit a level pipe to the catch can, adjust shifter to sort this reverse thing.
See how things go.
So do diff technics make a tailshaft for the sedan or did the modify a Monaro one???
diff technics just use the driveshaftshop in the usa to supply carbon fibre or aluminium shafts !!! my wagon runs a carbon fibre with billet yoke and pinion flange rear setup to diff from them just need length, gearbox type etc and they will make to suit !!!! hope to push one to an 8 second pass soon !!! cheers
Cool Thanks for that
Mate don't waste your money on e85 for your car. N/A the gains are not huge (I actually lost power running 92% but gained torque) and it's not like it's readily available in the NT. I'm racing with it cut down to E60 with 98. But only because I can get united E92 in Melbourne for ~$1.25/l

Few bits done
Gave the car a full service all fluids, new rear pads and few other bits to help cooling and engine bay temps and changed the fans to remove all the fan ducting
More flow and more direct flow.
Brake ducts will be done later with pick up from underneath. Not a rush as the racing I do and the ap racing 6 piston there is no great need
All the sheets line up, sides all blocked off and under tray sorted
Fair few hours of work getting it all right
New catch cans and the lines rerouted to take and chance if draw through of the oil . They are fully baffled one too

The car went in for a petrol tune yesterday and also got new 60lb injectors fitted
Lost a bit of top end on the petrol tune but 25% increase in torque throughout the rev range. The engine has properly loosened which would if helped.
The tuner mentioned the exhausted poured stacks of black smoke out and now it is heaps louder too so plenty of suit build up
So the LPG tank will be removed and a few bits from the LPG system but lines etc will stay for now.
In dyno tests and comparison on long runs the engine temp was better on petrol too which will help out at the circuit.
Race meet is on the 2nd march so should be fun.
Only thing he could not fix was the stray gts stock shift light. Goes off all the time for no reason. Dam annoying and I can not find the beeper speaker either

Been loving reading your thread - Also Did you always have the PWR Radiator before starting track work, or did you upgrade from the std one. I'll say sorry in advance if i have missed this question being asked before
