well i tried the wrx thing.. and regretted it very very quickly.
to me a v8 commo is way above a wrx..
the 2005 model wrx i had felt nothing more then a shit hyundai (90's excel) with a turbo strapped on at a premium price.
take that as you will.
I'll buy whatever Holden is selling, my brand loyalty is absolute
I'll buy a VF before it's too late
I'll move on to something similar from another company
I'll move on to something completely different
Don't get me wrong ... I loved the WRX, I wouldn't have had 2 for over 6 years if I didn't. The only reason I don't have one anymore is that the kids out-grew them!
I've owned a few V8's ... VX, VY x 2, VZ, VE x 3, WM, E3, VF ... average in normal daily driving (~30-32km/h average speed) is around 15l/100kms ... give it a bit and it's easy to see 18-20l/100kms. On the freeway /country roads I'd say the V8's are close to as good as the WRX, easily able to average < 10l/100kms ... I'd say my figures for steady open cruising are pretty similar to yours. I don't tend to sit in traffic a lot but I do have a lot of stop / start driving and quite often a lot of short trips, both of which would make my figures worse than yours ... agreed there.
Build quality ... hit and miss I guess. I've had a few Holdens / HSVs that have had numerous issues and others that have done well over 50,000kms without a single issue. I guess re-thinking that one I'd agree that both my Subies had pretty much zero issues mechanically, except for the one that immobilised itself on the freeway (@ 110km/h) and had to be towed... bloody computers! Interior is a let down though, very cheap and not a nice place to spend a long time. In terms of long haul comfort the good old V8 has it all over the Subie IMO.
So I guess we pretty much agree on most things ... to answer the original point of the thread ??? It would have to be something comfortable, I've come to like engines that don't need to work hard and I can't stand front wheel drive. So as long as it looks good, sounds good, goes good and is either AWD or RWD I'd consider it.
DENY YOURSELF NOTHING !!!

If that's your opinion, fair enough. Depends on what you want, though. One of the things that annoyed me was the constant small problems that had to be fixed with the commodore, whereas the WRX doesn't have that. Unreliable cars piss me off. As a stock vehicle, the WRX also has far superior grip in cornering, especially in wet/snowy conditions.
In terms of build quality my WRX is also easily better than the commodore I had.
There's always the Hyundai Genisis, with the coupe confirmed the sedan may just be the last nail in the coffin (~250kw V6 and a ~320kw V8).
My 8YO WRX seats are in better shape than my 1YO Clubbie seats, i wouldnt rive my rexxie from Sydney to the GC, it would be too small, bumpy & uncomfortable, ill be looking @ Used c63's or maybe a a45 for my next car, Holden should have planned for a Cortina/ Vb/c/h commodore sized car with a nice RWD v8 yeras ago.
I will still need a decent size 4 door Sedan or Wagon to carry the family around and I really hate SUV's! I would prefer rear a wheel drive V8 so maybe a Chrysler...? I'm really hoping GM bring Cadilac here though cos i'd love a CTS-V Wagon! perfect to replace my SSV redline wagon..
If not, i'll probably buy a VF near the end of it's life cycle and keep it till it dies....
I will Keep my 408 VZ SS 6sp ,its got more than enough power and its reliable. I have a another family car ,so the SS is the weekend fun car. If I were to change my weekend car I would go retro with the 408 and put it in an old HK Munro or 68 Comaro.
I have done <25,000 since purchasing the ute in March 09
On that basis if I drive another 20 years I will be at 145,000 k's
May not be an issue for me, the ute may even be collectable then lol
Stu
Red Hot M6 VE SS Ute. Curves yes please on my women and my road.

C4B are they aftermarket wheels or has Toyota changed the design? If they are aftermarket what are they?
Nicest looking wheel they have ever done. I am thinking about something on my 150 but none of the aftermarket stuff does it for me (that I can legally fit anyway).
FJ offset is good too.
thanks
Michael
Looks great, some one at least going to have fun!
