I do have a laugh when my local dealers put up fencing etc, they're on a main road so their main drawcard is the cars out the front being visible. Maybe I'm wrong and it works, but seems ridiculous to me.
Had a real good laugh today... My favorite dealer for spares Ferntree gully had one of those enclosed tent sales where they crammed all their stock in front of the dealership.
Only one problem .... No parking!
So I wonder how it went ?
Normal people would not wish to leave their cars on busy burwood hwy or get ticked on the nature strip.
Parking was very limited in front of the service area.
Makes you wonder....
Got me spares ordered though!
Lol!

In the last 4-5 years when I fronted a Holden dealership keen to buy, have found I come away with a very reasonable buy without too much back peddling!
Most will struggle if tyre kicking or time wasting & the sales people will quickly identify that!
I tried to buy a new holden last week and:
1) Took 15 mins to find a salesperson (showroom basically deserted)
2) Salesperson didn't know much about product, looked up on Holden website while I waited (does SS wagon come in manual)
3) Didn't have a vehicle to test drive, and didn't know when one would be available
4) When asked about prices, parrotted RRP. When asked for a 'sell one today price', no difference.
Useless, and I went down the road and bought elsewhere.
Depends where you go I guess, I even had a woman in spare parts try to give me the green v6 coolant for my vy ss and then argued with me that it was the right one. In the end she worked out she was wrong and apologized lol.
Very similar experience a few years back trying to buy an VE SS Ute....
Tried to get me to take a Sedan for a test as "It's the same platform"....
When they finally called me with a Ute it was an SSV, I declined again when they finally got the right Ute in it had 4 litres of fuel after me telling them I needed to drive it at freeway speeds as part of the test....
Walked away and bought 2x second hand cars for less money, Dealer principal rang me shortly afterwards to find out why I didn't go ahead so I gave him my "thoughts"..

It must be difficult for dealer principals. Because of heavy discounting in the past people expect the same every time they buy. Costs are rising but profits sure wouldn't be. And very few salespeople seem to kjnow much about how to sell.
That said, I refuse to drop $50k with a dealership that has treated me badly, both as owner and as potential buyer. Enough is enough.
Its sad really, when you want to hand over hard earned for a new car you deserve good service.
The 2 VE's I've bought new I've had great service from 2 different dealers in Adelaide(one was a sale over the phone cause they could get me a Black VE SS ute in manual)
Went in to the holden dealer closets to the holden factory a few weeks ago, and wasn't a nice feel(salesmen were having a laugh/chat I had to interrupt) to get any service.
Any good deals on Vf's available, the comment back was VF's are only retail price atm.
It pays to shop around...
