What would cause new swaybar link pin rubbers to fail in under 100km.

Had the VX SS serviced recently and the mechanic phoned to say the front swaybar link pin bushes needed replacing, one of the bushes had split, so I said go ahead and replace them all, the link pins on my VX SS are the later ball joint type with the rubber bushes at the other end. I checked when I got the car home and there were 4 new bushes fitted with a nice coating of some sort of red grease on them. Well the last few days I have been hearing a clunk in the front end when going into the drive or turning, just had a look under the car and one of the new bushes is split and half hanging out. What would cause it to split in under 100km, faulty bush, wrong bush, installed incorrectly any thoughts before I ring the workshop on Monday. Appreciate your thoughts.

Not saying it's the cause but you don't use normal Grease on Rubber parts....

This time of year it wouldn't take much to split them with the recent cold snap we've had.

Is your car stupidly low? I get a lot of complaints from people who flog out bushes regularly in the front end of Commodores because it's dumped on it's guts and the suspension geometry is completely up the shit.

Pretty good point, if they copped a bit of stress and were extra stiff due to the cold they could split.

I'd also imagine they could have a premature ending if they were over tightened or if the nut came loose and there was excessive play there as well.
At least they're not an expensive part or difficult to replace.

The car is just a stock standard FE2 VX SS, I have only driven it a few times and just local shopping etc, noticed the clunk a few days back so thought I would have look, one of the bushes is half way out, probably done about 80 to 100km in it. Maybe it was over or under tightened, just wondering whether to ask the workshop to fit a set of Nolathane or Superpro bushes, it is a pretty well set up workshop, has quite a few LS based race cars and engines etc on the go, so I think they know what they are doing.

Over tightened, happened to me, took less than 50km for them to bust
