VE Mirror Problems

After some (too vigorous in retrospect) cleaning by someone trying to remove the marks left behind by one of those stick on convex mirrors, the driver's side mirror on my SSV ute has lost its tilt up/down functionality. It still goes (in and out) left and right OK. Does anyone know if it's likely to be repairable or am I looking at having to buy a whole new mirror?

Gaz it sounds like the mirror backing has a broken clip & most likely the metal clip is dis lodged as well. You can buy just the mirror glass with it's backing & clip through spares without buying the entire assy.

Bought a new mirror glass assembly and was reading the instructions for removal and replacement. They mentioned pushing the glass at all sorts of angles to a) remove and b) get the replacement glass to sit back in properly. Went out and pushed it firmly this way and that. Tested it - perfect!!

Anyone need a new mirror glass assembly? LOL

Ah well, didn't cost much. My wife's Astra one was many times the price.
