    I dont worry about getting it up to operating temperature,I always look at the oil temperature .It tells you when you can start flogging it or not.I have my coolant temperature come up within 2 minutes of moving but oil temps can be 10 minutes before it reaches max, but drive it hard but not thrashing it

    If you have to wait for oil temp your using the wrong oil. Multi weight oils mitigate the requirement of having to be up to temp. Get the coolant temp up and pound it. 215000k's on my ls and no problems when I've used a good 10w60 oil
