That's fair enough mate. A lot of people prefer custom systems and a good fabricator should be able to get it sounding just how you want it

Have you considered running try Y headers. They (from what I have seen anyhow) collect into a 2.5" collector that would then match the rest of your system better. I'd go bigger than 2.5" cats as well as the catalyst will take more cross sectional area than you might give it credit for.
To the OP, if you want the best ls1 sound get a tonner and side-pipe it. Gave probably the best in-cabin v8 sound of any v8 I've had, including 5L's.
I think you're on the right track though with the system you've got in mind with no merge.
I've got a VE now with HSV headers and bi-modal cat-back and have removed the merge to get rid of drone. No more irritating hum at hwy speeds just a quiet v8 beat
It's a bit quiet so Im going to make a second set of axle-backs with magnaflow 14416's. I'll keep the bimodals for when I need it quieter![]()
Put a H pipe merge on the Xforce and see how you like the sound. I get a lot of compliments on mine, one day I'll stop being lazy and upload a video of it. IMO the twin 3" with h pipe, Sureflo cat and Pacemaker 1 3/4 is the best sounding VT-VZ exhaust I've heard apart from super expensive ones like Difilippo.
Mine that I built for the Tonner
I like it's sound but it's a bit quieter than most go for!

Looks like a similar setup to mine except I kept the rear resonator - yours appears to only have the 2 mufflers?
There's another pair at the back of the car.

Not those rear cans again mate!![]()
That Red VX in the video is "253 Kingswood Thong clap" all the way.....
2011 VE HSV R8, W375 , Manual....
The second part sounds like the Xforce merge; that raspy note was what disappeared after changing it for me.
