Can the Insignia which is FWD really be called a Commodore.
Is it just me or will this not work in the Australian market ?
Interesting comments ~ we are in summer and they are testing in Snow :-)
Better they test it under our harsh Aussie UV sunlight as many European plastics turn grey and turn to powder plus we keep our vehicles much longer.
Interesting times while GM fills the void, may take a couple of years before we see any decent product and will it be class leading?

Sure it may be a bucket of puss to drive but it does have a kickass lightbar.....![]()
FWD... sorry I have no interest in a FWD anything...................
I would entertain a AWD but no way, no how will I buy a new FWD
Am not liking the look of it at all. Nor am I liking the idea of FWD however we are not the general public. Pretty sure this is not POS_FWD_Bommodore_Wannabe.com so I don't see us liking this at all. As far as I'm concerned a FWD car is not a Commodore. Not one I'll own anyhow. Let the Commodore name go I say. AWD V8 Commodore however....
Saw this go past my email about a week ago,
There was a TT V6 AWD that was meant to go quite hard
We'll see how they go, pretty big hole to fill.
Nissan appeared to get that little V6 going bloody hard in the 12 hour?
Cheers
Steve
Yes seen one tucked away in the shed behind Suttons Arncliffe yesterday whilst there checking out my new ride. Looks a bit like an Audi, what I hear the V6 turbo is very thirsty & not that quick either.
.. having just come back from driving the current Insignia around Germany and Belgium (in 4cyl Turbo diesel form), I would suggest that Holden seriously look elsewhere if the Commodore replacement will be based on this.
(the VW Passat I had after it.. was heads and shoulders 200% better than the Insignia)
Totally underwhelmed I was...small (squashy for 3 adults and luggage) with abysmal rear headroom, poor handling (Opel have forgotten Peter Handlingberger's lessons), under powered (the lack of torque was laughable given its a diesel... with a manual trans) its only good points were good fuel economy (reason I chose a diesel version) and good heating/screen clearing/demisting for the snowy conditions (like.. we REALLY need this in Oz)
ps Holden ...don't even think of calling this Commodore.. coz the Opel Insignia is not a worthy successor.
Just remember what GMH had to do with your original offering back in the 70s...
ps... they could ask me to do test driving in the snow

Thanks for sharing Smitty, I suspect this as much, Opel Insignia is the New "Appliance" manufacture even out shining even old Toyota. The reason I say old Toyota - is after driving the New Transformer looking 2016 Prius This January in Japan available with optional E-four electric rear drive for snow conditions EVEN TOYOTA has improved massively - while GM Opel are going the other way.
Any people work at Opel who actually enjoy driving cars these days?
This is really the root of the problem which will be imported to us Australians.
GM needs drivers cars, not appliance boxes on wheels.
When these arrive in Australia someone needs to go around and replace their Commodore badges with Avalon ones...
How Exciting, Can't wait!!!![]()
The Falcomry...
unfortunately this same thinking by GM means we will never see the Camaro
(and IMHO not the corvette) we might get a Cadillac but nothing better.
Holden are crowing about 24 new models by 2020... but most look like they
will be market failures if they keep selecting white boxes for Australia

Yes I suspect as such as do the local Holden dealers do... many are down sizing or selling the piece of land to Aldi !
Ford network is in the same boat.
Of the 24 New models, they better get a high percentage of those in as class leaders .... but I suspect it will be more me too product in a
very fragmented market that will drive up spares costs / over heads and parts support once the legal requirement is met.
It is going to get ugly - especially with the retarded GM LHD only model policy such as the Camaro.
Did they not learn anything from their partnership with Toyota at NUMMI with TPS ? The gods of lean production / flexibility with variety for all world markets.
The mind boggles.
