So what do you reckon it will sell for?
DK
It takes 10,000 nuts to put a car together but only one to scatter ‘em all over the road
so does that mean if I have a really rare vehicle, that its a bad idea to insure it. Or at least if the damage looks quite substantial, don't tell the insurance company about it ie tow it home yourself, get a independent quote first, then maybe involve the insurance company.
Pretty silly. The law should only apply to non rare cars...
Stat write off laws are quite specific.
Certain damage makes a stat even if it seems minor
Any water damage above the sills. There is also the 3 point rule for damage. If it get any three point then she is a stat
chassis rail damage to one rail is 1 point. Damage to two rails is 3 points. A pillar damage is one point. Acid/Chemical damage is 1 point. Certain a pillar damage makes it an instant stat. There is a list you can read up on.
i have seen a couple of HSV's go through auction labeled as attempted rebirths.
In NSW there are no repairable write offs as there were two many people rebirthing cars.
I asked a painter mate about this and he said that the new cars have certain areas that if damaged, no matter how well you repair them, it's a stat write off. Such a shame with something as rare as that W427, a lot of money down the drain to repair it and it's only good for looking at or driving on a track/private property.
Jason.
So I watched the auction, they tried to kick it off at $40K, but no one bid, they dropped to $20K and it started quickly then, it got to $37K and they referred it, meaning it didn't reach the reserve, whatever that may have been!
