    My first V8

Hi everyone! I have recently joined this forum and have been loving the builds. Definitely some inspiration here for my first V8.
    2000 hbd calais Ls1.
I bought the car in the middle of last year and have only done a bit of maintenance to some tired bits so far. (fuel pump, brake pads, struts, lower control arms, tie rods, service etc).
The car has been modified by the previous owner (hello if you're reading this!). It has Higgins race heads, vcm 11 cam, maffless tune, double row timing chain, high volume oil pump, ls6 injectors, bigger fuel pump, and a few other bits.
I got it a daily driver so I can attempt to do more work on my patrol but the v8 definitely has my heart now!.

It's amazing that VT's are at least 16 years old now. I feel really old. Good to see there's a few that still get around in good nick.

Yeah she has a few bumps and chips, especially on the front and being black they show up. Hence why I took the pics in the rain!
Going to give the clay bar a go and see what difference it makes

    Re: My first V8

    Hey TasCalais,

Nice pickup there, looks pretty tidy and a good set of mods to go with it. Your in a great place to own a V8 with the roads that are in Tassie, i have done it a few times now, once in my old VS SS Ute which was fun and am doing another trip over there at the end of the year in my GTS.

Few little tips for u to make black pop back out bud:
    - Make sure to use the 2 bucket method when washing, one clean water one soap, and use a microfiber mitt, rinse it in the clean water between wipes on the car.
    - Any polishing/claying or even washing always do it in straight lines, as it helps with reducing scratches showing to the eye.
    - And use a good quality sealant on it as u know black takes in a lot of heat.

Any other tips and tricks feel free to ask or PM me.

    Cheers

    Maccas

    Thanks heaps mate!.
Yeah there's plenty of good roads here but those 20s make it too rough to enjoy. I'm looking for a nice set of 18s for play.
Oh and call in for a beer when you're down!

    Re: My first V8

A couple of things I didn't mention in the first post: the car has a built auto by Evo automatics, 2800 stally, 3.73 diff gear, rebuilt and balanced tailshaft by indrotech, pioneer gps touch screen, 12 inch sub.
I tried to find out what was done to the box but found evo automatics have closed. Did they do good work? Is there any way to know what was done to the box? (I tried contacting the seller)
