Any of you guys ever looked into extended warranty options on your new VF2s?

It was offered to me when I signed up earlier this month, but I reneged as I got the 5+5 warranty & road service package from GM as part of the deal.

Yeah, I was lookin' at an extra few years with a package provided to me from a dealer, but it ain't worth the paper it's written on IF you do as the actual HSV website says you can and, use the "Logged data for use at race circuits utilising GPS tracking with a downloading capability" that shows a digi pic of Bathurst.

The fine print states that all warranty is void if you participate in motorsport. Gotcha!!

Greatest problem I have with it say your clutch goes, you must use a stealership to pull it all down, then they do a report with photos send it to the insurer if in their opinion it has failed through abuse they won't pay. You then have a dismantled vehicle somewhere your not comfortable it being. If you don't get them to fix it either way your up for the dismantling/inspection cost. I know this 1st hand as exactly happened with my VY.

Re: VF Series II IS HERE

I had a similar issue on a previous vehicle. Something had hot spots on it, I'm no mechanic so whatever that means, and it was quite some time ago and I can't even remember what the original issue was. BUT.....the clutch was replaced, a slave cylinder and something else, all done under the extended warranty as the mechanics could see by the look of the clutch I had taken good care of the vehicle and not thrashed it.

I believe I paid a small labour charge which was less than 100 bux, so the extra warranty worked in my favour, even though I had after market extractors and custom exhaust system.

Edit: Never had a built in GPS system too that could see where I had been!

Reckon you were one of the lucky ones, as soon as I had my claim declined you can bet what I did with the policy?

Both..but after some complaining got the majority of the premium back. I say do what the Insurers do & take the punt. that's the best bit of advice I can give anyone.
To give you an example bought our Calais V sports wagon in late 2010 had zero issues with it. Out of warranty now & I service it myself, fuk the log book it means sh*t anyhow!

Re: VF Series II IS HERE

My daughter took out an extra Swan Platinum warranty with her Golf when we purchased it. Originally they wanted $1300 for it, when they dropped it to $700 we jumped and signed the dotted line. Now, I usually laugh in the salespersons face when they mention these warranty's, but over the last 12 months we have claimed and had repaired just under 6k worth of issues, including most recently new clutch packs in the DSG due to shudder. They must be ruing the day that they sold that warranty to us

Edit: Forgot to mention, no issues with or questions asked by Swan and all work carried out by VW.

Thinking twice now about getting it, cos' if you do any aftermarket works on the vehicle, ie pipes, etc, sounds like they would be likely to turn around and burn you anyway.

My Rep at Suttons said it would be comprehensive so long as A/M works are done legally, thing is a stealership must service the vehicle & that's something I won't tolerate!!
Last thing I want is some pimply faced young bloke revving the fuk outta my hard earned LS3!!

Just the 5Yr warranty as available now, I thought that was for 2015 builds but my 16 build has 5yr warranty but not 5yr roadside assist
