    Creaking under front end

My VE has developed a very annoying creaking and groaning noise under the front end. It happens when turning most of the time at low speeds, but at times does
it over certain bumps in a straight line. I assumed it would be strut top bushes, and therefore went ahead and just replaced them. Bad move, they were fine and
with new bushes and bearings in place the noise remains. What else should I be looking at under the front of a VE that could be the culprit? Radius rod bushes maybe?
I know when the blower went on that Brad @ Enhanced spaced out the k-frame to get the blower under the bonnet, but he is adamant that this would not be making the
noises I am hearing. Any ideas or thoughts welcome

Rod the noises your explaining sounds exactly like a K Frame mount or bolt problem.
Simple check is to idle car open bonnet & have another person put the wheel on a left or right lock holding it on the lock & look if the K frame moves.
This was typical in the VT-VZ models.

Thanks Mick. So is there a fix for this ie maybe bolts have come loose? Sounds like it could be the spacers causing issues maybe.

To my knowledge not an issue with VE but previous models yes, the bolts can work loose. If you didn't have an issue before the install/mod of K frame there is a chance of metal to metal contact or the bolts/bushes causing the noise!

Put it back in this morning for some more fault finding. The k-frame was fine. They did however find that the noise appeared to be coming from the swaybar links. They undid the link pins, and the swaybar made a large clunking noise. They have regreased the bushes and tightened the bolts back up and we will see how it goes. At least nothing seems to be seriously wrong under there, still annoying though. l

Best of luck with it Rod
I know how annoying these things can be
& it's sometimes hard to locate the culprit.

Is it something that makes the noise very often?

...............Often enough to show someone what you are talking about?

Or is it one of those things which never plays up when you have a mechanic trying to locate the problem?

Funny you should say that. I took Geoff the boss around the block when I first got there and not an f'ing thing, we both had a laugh about it and he agreed it was typical.
They however were able to get the car to make the noise once I left. When it does do it, it does it a lot and is quite loud, when it decides it wants to stop it is stone silent.

    Yeah, know the problem well,
sometimes you feel as if people are looking at you as if you are imagining the problem.

These are the reasons most peeps offload a vehicle cause it ends up driving them mad!!

I reckon the dude I bought my Crewman from did the same as it had a cold start takeoff hesitation. I took it to Sonny once I bought it & had dod delete + Cam done though still retained this cold hes. issue.
After a little bit of tracking down Sonny found I had a OS corrupted file in my E38 no matter the number of times he corrected the value it would keep defaulting back causing the issue. Solution was to send the
PCM away for a total wipe & rewrite of OS files & re input the tune file & all sweet.
Sonny said the problem was most likely caused by the previous owner downloading & loading remote tune files over the net, similar to a virus!!
