    Transmission vent

I found this hanging down under the car whilst messing around doing some routine maintenance. I am led to believe it is a trans vent of some sort? Pretty sure it should be mounted somewhere and not just hanging. Anyone know where is should mount? Is sitting between cat converters and x pipe below 6l80 in my VE.

Thanks Mick, you would think with the trans being out for stall converter install not more than a couple of months ago that it would be in it's place right?

Yeah, I think it is. No idea where I would source a replacement. Can't find anything that resembles it on the internet

If the breather vent part is working you might be able to hold it out of the way using cable ties.

It only has to hold it up & it's not as if anyone will see it.

I would guess that the clip got broken when someone was doing some work under there
then the thing fell down & melted on something hot like the exhaust.

Yes, like when the trans was out. I have it cable tied at the moment, but not in the greatest spot imo, just where I could reach on ramps.

Rod so long it's above the top of the box. It's only a vented plug end with a tiny screen to stop dust & dirt getting into the box. Higher the better to prevent any atf backflowing/siphoning out of your A6!

    Re: Transmission vent

Well had an embarrassing moment this morning. Thought I new my car pretty well. Put her into Ultra Tune Prospect to have the O2 sensors fitted and get a call 10 minutes later asking which of the 4 do I want replaced. I am like WTF I thought it only had two. I had assumed with full exhaust that the only 2 remaining would be the ones in the headers. Luckily they are different connectors and it was the pre cat ones that I had bought. That still doesn't guarantee that I got the right pair and Brad just said one of the O2 is lazy so replace both, never mentioned if it was pre cat or after cat sensors. Oh well, I guess I will purchase some after cat ones anyway just to be sure. On a brighter note, Geoff the owner made up a custom bracket for the trans breather and mounted it up above the trans, looks like factory. Have been taking my cars to him for the 12 years we have been back in Adelaide and Geoff and his team have always done quality work. Helps that he is a massive car enthusiast himself with a small stable of very desirable Fords and Holdens.

Generally the fronts on these are disabled but rears exiting your cats will be live.
