Saw that on FB today, what I cant get over is all the haters in the comments, what a sad society we've become, someone obviously had a bad day and its one thing to have a laugh at someone else's misfortune but a lot of the comments were downright vicious.

Yeah definitely a W1, yeah some of the comments are damn harsh and very uneducated to say the least. If hes given it some without the tyres being warmed properly they are apparently a real handful. Those tyres need a lot of heat before they have any grip, which always suprised me you didnt get a 2nd set of wheels with a more usable compound

In a school zone too....oh dear

Does anyone know what happened because the pic of the drivers side looks like it may have been hit by a car?

The front guards are plastic so thats no drama, new door. Is there any near side damage that would write the car off? Rear suspension looks crook.

A black W1 was stolen and recovered in Adelaide a few months ago, now this one crashed.

It looks like the drivers A pillar and side has glanced that pole and flipped the car back around, look at the skid marks towards the pole in the first photo, the damage at the bottom of the windscreen and scuff plate hanging out of the door in the bottom photo.

Plus there's something hanging down from the roof inside the car, either the hood lining or air bag, I wouldn't rule out a write off, particularly if that A pillar and sill is damaged.

Depending on the insurer I'd say it would be fixed.

    Can't tell these days.

AFAIK there are some structural sections that are not allowed to repaired or replaced,
if damaged the vehicle gets written off. Simple, end of story!

Have seen a couple of cars with very minor looking damage get written off because of that before
& some looking far worse getting repaired.

There were a couple of threads on the forum about a W427 a few years ago for sale which had been repaired but was never allowed to be registered in Australia again.

Re: GTSR W1, where are they now?

Then again maybe the driver had been drinking, on some substance or for some other reason was not covered by insurance?

In that case it might be just be sold off as a damaged vehicle & won't be flagged as a statutory write off by any insurance company.

Re: GTSR W1, where are they now?

I don't think this is a dealers car, all the ones I've seen in showrooms have all the pre-delivery stickers, door bumps etc removed.

Example with all the stickers etc - https://www.carsales.com.au/private/...-5010737/?Cr=8

You beat me to it sir, that was exactly what I had in mind when I mentioned a possible write off. I was actually going to mention that W427 when I replied to Mick but you've already covered it.
