The towing capacity on the 6 speed manual in the VE SS was limited to 1,600kgs as far as I can remember.

Got an unsolicited message from a S.A. friend (HDT Owner!) yesterday, advising me that He'd bought a VXR & was pleasantly surprised by it. He said He reckoned most of the knockers hadn't even been near one.

    Pickles.
    Thanks Pickles

.. have driven several and am not enamored with this ZB model

I reckon Holden have tried a 'half' approach, tried to stick it between
what the VF SV6 and SS offered but I don't think they got it right.

Goes alright .. probably due to the 9 speed auto more than the engine
Seat of the pants says better than a SV6 but slower than the SS
but the farty V6 enhanced exhaust noise was not to my liking.
The Holden engineers rave about how they 'enhanced' the exhaust
over the original Opel one. Hmmmm ....

    Other things just don't gel.
Suspension is far too hard... might be OK on German motorways
but the goat tracks we have for roads here cause 'crashing thru' on
road joins etc. 2 of the VXRs I drove had dashboard rattles made worse
by any road imperfections. And made worse by the wheel/tyre choice

in my opinion. Grip and turn in is good (as you would expect) but road
    noise is high ..

The worst thing I found was the front seats ( I have reported this here before)
They have all the comfort of a timber park bench. You might as well sit on a
concrete lump... way way too hard and unforgiving. The VF sports seats are
    far superior

The 4cyl RSv version is a far nicer thing to drive

    Thanks for that Smitty.
I think next time I visit my Dealership, I shall ask to drive the car you speak of, Calais 4 cyl turbo with "9 sp auto"?

Agreed, the 4cyl is the version to get in my opinion aswell. Just wish we got the AWD version, bang in a stage 1 tune and I think it would be more than satisfying for most.

When i did the drive day at lang lang, on one of the steep up hills the 2.0T stuck with the V6. The lighter weight and low down torque meant that the V6 was no quicker.

The 2.0T is definitely the pick, just a shame its not available in AWD

Drive day at Lang Lang sounds good, We've been there a few times,....who was your drive day with, did they have a speed limit on the bowl?

Organised through caradvice. We were able to sample the ZB in different forms. There was a wet slalom in a VXR, some light off roading in a Calais tourer & a road loop in an opel insignia, zb 2.0T & zb V6 (to compare)
Nothing in the bowl as it was being resurfaced and whilst there was a lot of spirited driving it was all controlled.
    A very fun day

    Re: ZB Commodore sales

I followed a Commodore (or at least what Holden is now putting Commodore badges on) on the Highway this morning for 20k's or so.

White sedan, no markings on the back other than Commodore so I have no idea what model it was. It had fairly small wheels so I'm suspecting it was a poverty pack.

From the back my first thought was... What is this thing? I didn't think it was a Commodore. The back quarter had an AU Falcon'esque look, and the front to me is 100% Mazda 6. In fact if you put Mazda badges on the front of it, I reckon you'd fool 80% of people into thinking it was a 6.

Is it grotesquely ugly in the flesh..... NO
    Is it attractive..... NO
Is it in any way remarkable or memorable..... NO
Let's hope it has something going for it in terms of resale/warranty/running costs that put it on the radar because visually it's vanilla.

    Re: ZB Commodore sales

I'd suspect the resale probably won't be pretty, based on the ZB seeming to be not popular. Generally value would be a factor supply and demand. Demand probably not high (based around new car sales), but in the case of ZB's there'll be far fewer of them on the roads than VF, so perhaps as the supply will be less, maybe there's a chance the resale may not be that bad (at least relative to previous Commodore resale which hasn't been great in any case. The other factor is reliabilty and if the ZB acquires an unreliable reputation then of course value will suffer. Wheels magazine list new car prices and resale values, they have the ZB's fairing pretty badly on resale in the mid 30's percent range (3 years),

SVG's wagon is pretty nicely modded, I'll give it that.

If only it said Insignia on the back...
