VE Fuel Filter

What is the consensus with fuel filters on the VE's? They are apparently a biatch to change (under back seat) and need to be accessed via a hatch that is sealed down with some black tar like shite? Most cars need a change at regular intervals ie Wifes Mazda SP25 is roughly every 40k. What is so special about the VE ones that they don't need to be easy to change regularly. I remember my VT2 SS was extremely simple.

If you have not changed it since you have owned the car I would think it would be a worthwhile maintenance job.

Did Brad upgrade your fuel pump when he fitted your blower?

Perhaps he changed the filter at the same time? (Might even be listed on his invoice?)

Still has OEM pump Ed. Brad reckons the VE AFM pump is fine. If doing the filter, might do a pump at same time.

Hey Rod the VE pump is the same as the previous VZ style with intank filter built into the module, not sure if there is enough space to access under the seat, maybe a tank out job. If so upgrade your pump then too.
I'm in the midst of modding my old VZ to have remote fuel filter for maintenance purposes also.

It's my understanding that only early VEs (06/07) have access to the fuel pump through under the seat. When the fuel pump in my MY09 Senator was upgraded to a ZL1 pump to cope with the blower it was a tank out job.

Damn, Brad told me was through the seat, maybe he got his models mixed up. He said even through the seat it is a kent of a job. Might just leave well enough alone on this one.

Rod I had a look really only drop the zorst/hoses & wiring, easy as on a hoist no problem.

I went with the Walbro 460, mine is a fair bit over 600hp at the engine as I think Rod's should be,

in the scheme of things there is not a huge gap in price so I reckon the little extra is well spent.

Yeah Ed in Rod's case being FI, would go the Walbro 540lph, doubt my Z will ever be anything more than NA & being a work truck is good for me.

Rod I think the early VE’s had two circular access panels under the seat. For some strange reason the later years they were removed which means dropping the tank.
