So my friend, will you be hanging on to your wagon, now that you can't upgrade to a new one any more?

Whilst not a huge hero colour person Pickles, I actually reckon Spitfire doesn't look bad at all on the VF's

They are a large used car dealer which, in the past, has specialized in high end Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo etc, but they seem to have found a liking for HSV & other V8 Holdens, and they've certainly bought & sold a few.

last HSV V8 manual wagon made? (or Holden made wagon body. ... or for that matter, probably the last V8 manual station wagon in the world?)

As It type this.. yes, it is a keeper. What is out there to replace it?
Yes, there are high performance wagons.. but no manuals or all way about $100 large (or some $200k+)

The R8 is comfy&nice to drive, just over 60,000 in 5+ years. I service it myself (being a fussy fastidious old fart)
and enjoy it... even when I was commuting all over Melbourne in peak hours traffic to our work sites
(not with COVID though, 2 set of lights in an 8 minute commute once a week at best with work from home)

I have chucked GENFII rear lamps on it for an instant upgrade

so yep, its a keeper ....

Re: Current GTS-R (not W1) pricing WTF!

The entire car market has gone crazy thru the pandemic. I sold two cars last month, one took a 4 hours, the other 2.

The used car dealers can't keep stock. Picked up an A45 for the wife from a dealer that usually has over 2000 cars in stock, they have had 600-800 for the past 4-6 months, they are just turning them over.
I have a good friend that purchases for a VW dealer, his quota is usually around 10 cars/month to maintain stock levels, lately it has been 30-40. They're gone within a week of hitting the lot.

HSV/Commodore prices are supply and demand. Can't get them any more and supply is drying up. I think Duttons have driven the prices up a lot but supply in general is well down. 328 HSV's for sale on Carsales, it wasn't that long ago when it was constantly above 2000.

Ah yes, I thought that might be the case, and with the sort of mileage you're doing, it's gonna last for a while!

Agree, but I still can't believe how sales are going & pricing being achieved, with so many people out of work, business's going bust etc.
Being retired, We certainly have to watch our dollars, & there's no way We'd be buying a GTSR or anything like it in this climate, but looking at people's comments on forums etc, there's still many out there who's spending is the same as ever,.....and in the current climate I guess that's gotta be a good thing.

I too have been watching the used car market and frankly don't understand where the demand is coming from.
Don't know if its related but I have noticed a lot more high end cars being driven about the place lately, especially Ferraris and Porsches, saw a cool Porsche cruising around our suburb the other day, missus asked how much it'd be worth, I said "I don't know but Porsche don't put big wings and centre lock wheels on the cheap ones!" Lol.

If it was a new GT3 RS, a mate of mine has one and I think he paid close to a cool half mil for it after options and tax.

Re: Current GTS-R (not W1) pricing WTF!

wow, just looked at the used HSV prices (I haven't looked for about 4-5 years) and they're insane. Cheapest HSV's are about 20K (not including the few Astra's) with VY-VZ's in the 30K+ range. Not so long ago these were half that. ie you could buy a VT-VX in the 10K bracket, with a VY around the 15K mark... insane

I still have my VZ HRT ed.

Does anyone know what happened to the HSV forum? I can't bring up any links on search...

Re: Current GTS-R (not W1) pricing WTF!

I think HSV forum is gone.

Yeah, I know the VT-VZ range is starting to go up now,

I have seen a couple selling for big money, I guess it is signs of what is to come.

Check out on Carsales etc for prices of VN SS Commodores, rare to see anything in decent, tidy condition for under $30,000,

VK's and VL's are much higher, even the old Calais are going crazy.

I think it is to be expected that these will only head in the same direction as time goes bye.
