    Electrical issue.

After searching and reading still no better off.
Car wouldn't start a couple of weeks back when it was cold here in Adelaide.
OK no worries battery must be on its last legs it's around 3 years old charged it up car starts.
I have had an issue ever since I we have owned it with the battery going flat.
I thought i fixed it some years back.
There was a relay connected or wired into the bcm it was as hot as fook, nobody could tell me what this relay was or what it did it'was a 3 post no markings as to what it was left it out and off i went.
Now alternator was replaced in Dec last year.
All good until today brand new battery put it in yesterday arvo car started fine this morning to drop the wife at the bus stop and drove home.
Check it 2.30, today need to move some cars around, go and unlock ss no problem, go and start it nothing click click WTF battery dead, it's on the charger now..
So i now need to sort this out, i have lots of cars to drive so it's not a problem, we'll it is.
What i noticed is the dash oscillates, the alternator seems to be working its arse off, battery voltage by the dash is 14.4 - 14.3 now is it possible that the alternator is part of the problem here, i have to get me a multimeter that's the one thing i don't have, so could anyone give me some info for looking into this at home, i thought battery but appears not to be that.
I will go get me a multimeter to start with.
The car is not used as much now, usually driven every day recently only a few times a week now.

Most likely it's the solenoid, GM sell the solenoid as a separate serviceable part if your starter is oem, if aftermarket, replace the starter, good luck with it man

Thanks looks like a prick of a job to do in the driveway, it played up about 12 months ago or longer purchased a new one and no problem until now.

Why not just phone Dave at EP & ask if he can fit it for you if you drop it off to him?

It could also be a loose earth wire at the starter motor. effecting the charging circuit. or if the battery is old it may have a bad cell.

If you are trying to find the power drain on the battery you have to remember to allow the bcm to shut down (several minutes) and with the help of a multi meter pull fuses one by one. (leave door open and bonnet up whilst awaiting the bcm shut down/sleep mode otherwise opening the door will turn it on)
There are no such things as dumb questions, only dumb answers!!!

The Holdens/LS's starters are earthed to the block only. The Batt Neg cable earths directly to the block not the starter.

Car still starts and runs as it should ,have been to EXPlus $240 to remove replace ,i can't afford that at the minute i had to organize with them when to get the extractors fitted to sons Ute .
Multimeter shows 12.7 engine off ,14.5 running new battery in the car .
Old battery i put it in the Ute shows 12.26 it's 3 odd years old .
The battery that was in the Ute suits a Ford it's like new someone thought it was good just to stick something in it , anyway i have lots of battery's and cars so i can check all of them ,they are all only 12/24 months old anyway .

Being me i never go with the first quote even though i could walk home from there and Dave wasn't there today ,my eldest Daughters partner know a mobile mechanic family friend so thats my next route and Fakebook as well ..
The young bloke said it's a couple of hours to do ,i think if thats case i would do it myself in the drive way a dozen bolts or so remove misc exhaust bits and manifold and replace surely it doesn't take that long on a hoist .
I don't have lots of cash as i don't work the wife doe's but i am sure you know what i mean there ..
