I noticed a post on the forum relative to the P.I. Historics, so I thought I'd give my thoughts.
I'd never been to this event before, & so when a friend of mine said He was going & would I like to come with him, it was a great opportunity, particularly as our ride was going to be his lovely mercedes SUV,...21" wheels etc, & so many "programs" I don't think I'd ever understand them all, even had a massge program in the seats!
We went down on the Friday, so not caught up in crowds.
What a great collection of cars, don't know how many, but everything from an Austin 7 to an F1. And I did notice the Giocattolo that you put up Smitty, I was around when these were released and this would be the most pristine I've ever seen.
Caught up with a few friends of mine, Dylan Innes, Milton Siferis, Sheppo, Steve Tate, & of course "Tatey"! Ian mentioned that He was to be presented with his OAM in May.
The presentation of all of the cars was first class, particularly the Holden Group C, GroupA, Supercars etc, I reckon most of them were in better shape than when they raced.
But the car that most caught my eye was a yellow Perkins VL, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, restored by Larry & Jack, I reckon it'd win any concourse it entered,....so yes it'd be my favorite for the day.
So much to see, I won't go on, everyone who's been would know all about it, but I reckon Friday is a good day to go, much smaller crowd.
Pickles.

That's a shame, sounds like it would have been a great day.
I was there Saturday. Was a great day, felt like the old days of going to V8 Supercars in the 90's (before it got too big for itself), when you can hop in the car and drive around the whole spectator area and walk in and out the pit area as you please.
A great selection cars to see and hear on and off the track.
Really enjoyed the day.
I have been to the equivalent at Winton a few times always a fantastic event
Able to talk to the drivers and those fettling the cars.
Weather was never any good though and tuff to get accommodation if you wanted to stay overnight.
One time we hired a caravan somewhere a good drive away, lucky we took a heater as there was a good 6 inches of snow overnight.
A walk around the carpark always showed some weird and wonderful rides as well.
Red Hot M6 VE SS Ute. Curves yes please on my women and my road.

Yes, I knew Dylan's Dad, Rob, who was a legendary President of the HSVOC, so I've known Dylan sinse He was a little boy, good to see him following in his Father's footsteps. Rob & Dylan bought the Crosby VK Group A & restored it together many years ago. Dylan recently was able to buy Rob's HDT VC, still in beautiful condition.
Sheppo is very well, into his 80s now, but still with that Sheppo sense of humor & still sharp as a tack, I caught up with him & Neil Burns at the same time, & later I noticed Sheppo having a good chat with Larry.
And yes, that is the VL!....just a magnificent classic Aussie racecar.
Regards, Martin.
