Re: Worst Badges Ever ? - Part 2

I booked a dual cab Hilux when I was in Tassy week before last.
Got to the counter and the bloke hands me over some keys that didn’t look like a Toyota symbol.
Ends up it was a LDV T60. Fair enough I thought, looked good when I climbed up behind the wheel.
Start it up and OMG, what the hell is that sound. Sounded like a kid had put a playing card in the spokes.
So drove from the airport into Hobart and it could possibly be the worst driving experience I’ve had.
    What a bucket of $hit!

Took it back the next day and the bloke says, yea, that’s a normal noise, it’s just the build quality.
Also couldn’t tune the radio to drown out the shocking noise of the “engine”.
Luckily they swapped us into a decent vehicle for the remaining 9 days.

but have you ever driven one? I have .....

50T Centurion tank (on some blokes property down Gippsland) with a 700hp modified
(to fit in that model Centurion) ROLLS ROYCE Merlin engine

Flown aircraft (737, 747) in simulators, helicopters (BELL Ranger) gliders and various
others light aircraft (Cessna, Grumman) but that tank has to be the hardest thing I have ever steered
you need more arms than a barrel full of monkeys! Ain't no steering wheel in there, the thing
    is guided by levers

can't see really ( an 8mm slit gives little visibility to that 3m drop you are approaching at 50kmh)
and with a pre-selector gearbox that needs double declutching .... up and down in the gears
plus you have an instructor sitting out of the top of tank telling you stuff via intercom in it
and the noise factor, even with phones on your ears means you really cannot hear him
.. add in suspension meant for grip, traction and stability and zero comfort for the crew
means it rather interesting to be belting around the country side in one!

ps.. little known fact, these also have an Ausin Morris 4cyl engine in them.
you start that before all else... to power radios lights etc
