BCM for a z-series HSV help

Hi, its been a while since i've been here.

Recently had my car at the mechanic, and he diagnosed my starting issue in my VZ clubsport as a faulty BCM.
Great i tought, easy.

Except, because its a HSV he can't do it. Apparently no one can do it except for 1 bloke (im in brisbane).

The problem im having is trying to get a hold of him and to be able to book my car in for a appointment.

Question is,

Why is it apparently so difficult to change a BCM on a HSV. Why is it that no one else can do it?

After 4 weeks i haven't made any progress.

Hi

Its not starting intermittently. Its giving fault codes for a faulty BCM.

I had one fail once when i was driving. Car completely shuts down. Very dangerous. So even though it 'may' start i dont want to drive it.

I know nothing about this issue, & I didn't know that HSV were any different than an "ordinary" Holden, say of the same year.
Holden still promotes its servicing facilities, surely an ex HSV Holden Dealer would still have the knowledge & so could help?

Martin... I agree

a BCM for a 6l VZ Clubbie should be an easy swap (physically).. the only naffy bit will be the security side
which any ex Holden servicing dealer (as you say) shoud have the gear and knowledge to sort that

even if the PCM has a tune it (the comment about the 'one' bloke in Brisbane makes me suspect that)
it should not cause an issue...

a new BCM won't be cheap but ...

So I have just had a similar issue with non starting Ie turn key and nothing at all do it a couple of times and it would fire up plus anything bcm related like ac fuel gauge temp gauge etc would fail when the fault appeared. (It was intermittent but would towards the end happen within 15mins of driving). This wouldn’t through any error codes which lead me to bcm or pim faulty as I didn’t want to self diagnose I sent car to Holden to problem solve and repair. Turned out to be faulty abs module but it would make the entire car go haywire. Took them close to a month to get car back not because they couldn’t diagnose it but because parts are rarer then rocking horse sh1t ended up with a recon done.

What I am saying is don’t rule out something obscure like abs module cause my car suffered from similar symptoms as you described.

In regards to programming bcm Holden would be able to do it with tech 2 if you get someone skilled enough. I know when I was going down the pim was the problem path I spoke with street tuna, he told me he was able to program and link it all back together no problem but you need the bcm ecu and pim all together to get them to talk and it is a very lengthy process (6 hours I remember him quoting me)

HSV would not have a different bcm it would be a Holden hi Lux model.

I know you've been on the forum for as long as me,..but I can't remember what car you have, so can't identify which car you refer to in your post!
Scarcity of spare parts seems to be an increasing problem.
