I am after peoples opinion. I purchased the below on Catch Of The Day. From the advert I thought I was purchasing 4 bottles. I have purchased this stuff from various vendors
over the past 7 years and it always comes boxed up as pack of 4. When it arrived I received 1 x bottle wrapped in a box. The vendor states that I only purchased 1 bottle. I think
I should have received 4 as per advertisement. Am I wrong?

It pictures 4 bottles in the advert & lists item as "4 X 1 gallon 3.78L"

It is 4 bottles as I read it,
otherwise I cannot understand what the number 4 in the listing means when they say "4X....." ?


Personally would not waste my money on that,
everyone else I know just buys normal methylated spirits and demineralised water from Bunnings
& mixes it 50/50 themself.

So metho and water is the same thing Ed? I did not know that. Might have to give it a try.

Yeah, as whitels1ss said, I can't see how that's not 4 bottles rather than 1...

'Fluid 4 x 1 Gallon' ... is as plain a description of a fluid for sale as you can get

it is NOT 4 litres, it is NOT 1 Gallon, not ONE Gallon
it is FOUR TIMES a 1 gallon container measure or FOUR of a one gallon container

that picture is not subject to argument as to what you are buying...

The bloke was also super quick to amend the advert to say 1 x bottle, luckily I snapped a photo of the original advert as soon as I got the 1 x bottle, I have attached this to my paypal dispute. He now refuses to answer me even though I have been super polite so far. It is not about the money, more about the principal, things like this give me the massive shits, how many people is he doing this to and on what other products.

how many others ? I prefer Paypal these days with online purchases because they do actually (at least in my experience) protect the buyer in these sorts of disputes

Ended up getting a full refund and told to keep the product. Seller has now said it was a technical glitch that caused the listing to say 4 x bottles.

Will probably go to Scotcher race fuels once my current stuff gets low, they have methanol from the pump. Whilst I cannot see any harm in using Metho, it is more ethanol than Methanol. I have even read of people using washer fluid as a substitute or even just plain water if just for intake cooling.

I think I might give it a try Ed, mine is only there for cooling so cannot see it being an issue. I also have 8 litres of demineralised water sitting on the shelf in the shed left over from the coolant change I did on my fathers car, so that will now get put to good use :}
