Howdy folks, I'm looking for some advice (as usual.......) ......
Recently I have had some weird issue (when it rains) ......... so, driving home in the rain the other night and the wags chucked a 'check engine' warning .........
Car seemed to drive ok, although the idle seemed a little off.
Dropped it off to a local mechanic who chucked a scan tool on it ............ the error codes were indicating a purge valve and maf sensor issue. Suspected engine harness has sh1t itself and needed an auto elec to go any further.
Spoke with APS who said can't be maf as it's a mafless tune (makes sense) and the purge valve shouldn't be throwing an error ..... purge valve was removed and bench tested and no issue.
I had a mate (who was an auto elec in a previous life) take a look for me and checked engine harness and couldn't fault it. A bit more digging around and googling indicated that the issue I was having was potentially just a blown fuse (F33).
Sure enough checked the fuse and it had blown - replaced the 15amp fuse and issue sorted..... Yay!
Drove around for a week with no dramas ............ last night it rained and I was driving to a mates place, hit a bit of water on the road and doot doot doot doot doot ......... Check Engine warning again.
Replaced the fuse again last night and fault cleared.
Clearly water is my issue but I am not sure where to start to try and trouble shoot it.
Any advice from the gallery on this one ................
I was just getting to the point where I had saved a bit of $$$ to get the blower serviced (its a little noisy) and then this pops up damn it.
Oh the joys ..........
Thanks as always folks.
I would start by checking & cleaning the battery earths to the engine & the body.
Next I would be checking for tightness & cleaning all the wiring, terminals / connections on the PCU.
These things can be a pain to troubleshoot but I think it is quite likely to be something quite simple & cheap to fix.
Sorry, not that might be not much help but wishing you the best of luck getting it sorted quickly.![]()
