    Bathurst 2024.

    Who,s watching?!
I started yesyerday, with the first of a 4 day Foxtel telecast.
As usual, the coverage was very good, some unusual things like a large brown snake on track, & a couple of miraculous escapes from damage, Luffy's being quite remarkablet, him simply saying He needs a new pair of undies. Scotty Pye was not so lucky, damaging the Camaro, but Whincup & team seemed quite confident they'd have it repaired for today.
Good to see the Heritage race cars on track too.
Looking forward to more good racing today, & I think Toyota may have their proposed Supra Supercar on display today as well.

Great event, still absolutely love the place, the mountain, the scenery, the local atmosphere, the track, .....but unfortunately the cars and the racing is not what it used to be.
I'll still have it on, but I'm not glued to it anymore.

I'm loving those Heritage cars though. They look amazing on the track. So many memories. That's the highlight for me this weekend.

A fun weekend coming up though, that place never disappoints.

slot car racing is how I see the main event.these days .. its about exciting as that stuff the yanks call motor racing
going around and around in circles in the same cars with different plastic skins... yawn

The Heritage/TCM style cars still appeal though*.. some say they are slow. They are not.. best of
1984 Group c cars was doing 2:13-2:14 lap times and the 2023 cars? 2:06 ish. 7 seconds with 40 years
of development, space frames, better aero and better tyres?

*I last went to the mountain in 1975 for the actual race and these days knowing a few there with cars
and following drivers like JB (he still calls me just Smith!) and JP probably explains my bias

"Some Of It"...Lol!!.....not good enough Mr. Forum chief,.....it's Bathurst,....ya gotta watch ALL of it, & start off with a BIG Bathurst Brekky on the Sunday morning! I'm a Bathurst tragic, been watching it on TV, I think 50+ years now. I remember when, in B. & W. TV days, they'd interrupt the telecast for World Of Sport, Ron Casey, Jack "Capt. Blood" Dyer & Co, supposedly for only 1/2 an hour, but one year for THREE HOURS,...ruined the whole telecast!!..All good now though, Foxtel is very good indeed.
So, looking forward to Sunday, & hoping Ritchie Stanaway has a bit of luck, which everyone needs at Bathurst.

Yep, I'll be "cutting a groove on the couch" all day Sunday :-) Like Pickles, I always start race day with a big breakfast ie bacon, eggs, sausage & toast & a variety of warm finger foods during the day. I've even got some chiko rolls for around the mid afternoon period - hopefully this might inspire the Erebus team !

I will watch the shootout this afternoon, never miss it as I think it is the best thing in the event.

I forgot about this. I only watch for the heritage touring cars, which would be finished as of today. Anyone know who were the top 3 in those races? I'm guessing the Godzilla GTR would have been one of them.

The ex Bond Sierra was pretty quick & I think an ex HRT Commodore was up there too. Greg Murphy driving a VN Commodore was having a bit of fun with Godzilla, being blown away in the straights, but catching up in the corners, but out of respect to the cars, I don't think either of them was going 100%, Murphy saying the Commodore wasn't his, & that Godzilla was probably worth more than his house!

    Re: Bathurst 2024.

Thank you kindly, Pickles. Sounds like fun racing. I'm dirty on myself for forgetting! A VN SS Group A trying to catch an R32 GTR, it makes me feel like I'm back in 1991 I don't think the VN gets its kudos for how close it got to Godzilla at Bathurst that year.

No surprise the RS500 Sierra's were fast! Such a dominant touring car. I loved them, they were my first memory of Bathurst actually. I nearly bought an RS back in the day from out in Penrith in Sydney. That opportunity will never present itself again!

    Re: Bathurst 2024.

We used to sit and watch the race from start to finish EVERY year. Sadly these days the cars have so little relevance it's really not compulsory viewing anymore.

I watched the first hour and will watch the last 10 laps.
